Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I have 12 episodes of the Jim Henson Hour on tape for trading. But a couple of episodes have some flaws. The Storyteller episode, The Soldier and Death, has a weather test pattern interrupting it a couple of times. And one of the episodes starts out scratchy, but only for a second. If you...
I can't remember much of it. But I remember Guy telling the crowd, "Face the front everyone. Face the front."
And when Grover was missing, Guy said, "Take the stairs."
Yes, those were bears. Harry was the big bear and George was the smaller one. Also there was Hubert the Polar Bear who just made a quick appearance in stretching exercises. And in the end when Kermit left in frustration, it showed George waving goodbye. :)
I remember seeing a Spanish version of that same cartoon. Only the Spanish voice was a lot deeper and scarier sounding. And instead of VOOM, it went VUUM. And that girl's voice singing was replaced by a guy's scratchy voice and the word VOZ appeared. And violin was the same, only one of the...
It's kind of like how when Mel Blanc continued to do voices for the Looney Tunes. Their voices had gotten deeper and softer over the years since Mel was becoming old. But when the new guys started voicing the Tunes, their voices somehow went back to normal.
Does anyone remember the skits where full sized versions of the Muppets ice skated?
The first had Bert in bed suffering from insomnia. Ernie suggests he imagine ice skating. So Bert does. And it showed a full sized Bert skating across an ice skating rink with beautiful music playing. And...
I remember what those aliens said.
"Old MacDonald had a farm. And on his farm he had a frog. E-I-E-I-O!"
And Kermit replied..
"With a help, help here and a help, help there. Here a HELP, there a HELP!"
And it ended with the Old MacDonald tune playing and all the people, animals...
Bert also thought that Susan and Gordon were outside and they needed water to drink. If that was true, Susan and Gordon seem to have needed lots to drink. :)
I remember Ernie first speaking again in that New Years special. That was a surprise.
And I also remember the skits he first started talking again. (During the 93/94 seasons.) The one where Ernie listens to rock and roll on his headphones so he wouldn't disturb Bert while reading. The one...
I like in the Muppets' Anniversary Special. Miss Piggy appears on a huge pile of steps in front of everyone with fancy music playing. But when she tries to step down, she ends up falling and tumbling down. And Waldorf and Statler go, "A falling star!" :boo:
Thank you all for the comments. :) It was fun writing them. In fact, here are some more Muppet, M&M commercials.
COMMERCIAL #5
We see Green M&M walking around the backstage until Pepe peeks from around the corner. "Hello babe", said Pepe. "Would you like to come back to my pad for a...
I've noticed when Frank Oz retired from the Muppets, Animal kept going from Muppeteer to Muppeteer. Fisrt to Kevin Clash, then Eric Jacobson, then John Kennedy, then Bill Barretta, and now back to Eric. I wonder if Animal will ever get a permanent Muppeteer soon.
Muppets Meet the M&Ms Gang.
COMMERCIAL #1
We see the talk spot wall with Kermit and the Green Girl M&M. "So you're the famous green M&M everyone wants?" said Kermit.
"You bet, Kerm", smiled Green. "And I've always wanted to meet a cute green guy like yourself. Do you mind if I give you...
Yes, very interesting. At first, I too thought Frank had voiced Stitch. Then found out I was wrong later. Yes, that does sound like one of Frank's popular voices. Almost like Slimer from the Real Ghostbusters and Go-Go Dodo from Tiny Toons. Two unforgettable Frank voices.
I remember there was an old Nickelodeon series called, Today's Special. Gerry made a guest appearance as a guy named Phil, who had a serious drinking problem. It was certainly different from his Doc character.
Yes, Frank Welker is definitely one of the most talented voice actors since 1969 as is still going on strong.
And he can do any animal sound you can think of. Mainly, whenever a studio needs some animal noises, they hire Frank. He usually does the woofs for Santa's Little Helper on the...
