Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
It was great seeing the Muppets again. I especially liked Gonzo's super flip. It's good seeing Gonzo doing those wild stunts again after all these years.
Oh yeah, and I ordered those dipping strips the other day. They weren't bad.
I too thought a Muppet Halloween special would be a good idea for a while. Maybe have the Muppets dress up in costumes and they get together around a campfire and tell scary stories. Here's some of the ideas I had.
Gonzo telling the story of a Poultry-geist. About a little girl getting...
There were times John Lovelady did Nigel. Whenever Jim had to do either Kermit or Rowlf in the same scene. John did Nigel in the episode when the band goes on strike. In the end, when Rowlf made a criticism on Nigel's theme, Nigel replied. "Play hound, play!" in John's voice.
Sorry, I don't know the year. But I believe it happened around the 70s.
It's pretty funny. First Fat Blue orders two eggs and two strips of bacon and Grover goes off and comes back with it. Then FB changes his mind and wants one egg and three strips of bacon. Grover agrees and goes back...
I've noticed on Sesame Street these days, they don't ever show or mention the food bacon. Sure, in the early episodes, they had Cookie Monster eat all of Bert's bacon and Ernie's letter X to go with it. And Fat Blue ordering strips of bacon at Charlie's.
But now when they do breakfast...
Yes, Joe Raposo was one of the most talented songwriters in the world. I loved his work on Sesame Street, Electric Company, and the songs from the Raggedy Ann and Andy movie. Especially the, Blue, song which was also sung on the Muppet Show by the talented Helen Reddy. :)
I'll miss Joe...
First Ernie gave Bert the stool, then Ernie puts a toy cash register on his stand, and finally the napkins. He planned for everything, except for the apples. That was a regular thing on Sesame Street. A character makes all sorts of plans for a project, and ends up forgetting the most major thing.
A lot of people have been comparing Jim Henson's and Steve Whitmire's Kermit voice. But I'd like to point out that famous voice artist Frank Welker had voiced the cartoon Baby Kermit. And he got Kermit's personality pretty good too.
When I first read this book as a kid, I wondered if the monster at the end of the book would be some Frazzle-like monster who makes scary sounds and slobbers all over Grover. But thankfully, I was wrong. :)
That skit made me laugh so much. The way Ernie shouts, "HEEEERE FISHY FISHY FISHY!" in a loud voice. This skit was also seen on Plaza Sesamo, and it sounded funny when Ernie shouted that same line in Spanish. :)
And that shark was also in an earlier skit where it was singing a song about...
Actually, Brad made baby noises, in cute mumbling sounds. But it sounded like Richard Hunt did Brad. He sounded like Beaker, only Brad's voice was a little deeper.
And when Ernie brought out that toy shark, Brad starting screaming just like how Beaker screams.
Just a little food survey here. Who or which places do you think makes the best kinds of food. Here are my opinnions.
1. Hamburgers: Chesapeake City Deli
2. French Fries: McDonald's
3. Pizza: Pizza Hut
4. Fried Chicken: KFC
5. Fish: Long John Silver's
6. Hot Dogs: Dumar's
7. Buffalo...
I remember that old Ernie, Bert, and Maria skit. It also bothered me that Bert would lose his hair, while Ernie seemed to have kept his. Bert had already lost his cookie, and now his hair? :(
Does anyone remember the cartoon, Nancy the Nannygoat? It was from the same animators who made Wanda the Witch and kind of the same storyline. Only Nancy lived North of Nantucket while Wanda lived West of Washington. And Nancy had a nightingale while Wanda had a weasel. Also Nancy's...
I wonder what would've happened if those 3 kids became regulars on the show? I can just imagine the tough green kid causing all sorts of trouble while his two siblings try to talk him out of it or bail him out.
It seems like Frank Oz did the most scariest monster voices. Especially the voice of the Beautiful Day monster. Certainly a lot different from his cute adorable Grover voice.
