With Fred Rogers passing today, I wanted to reminisce about the crossover episodes. I know Fred Rogers appeared on SS and Big Bird appeared on Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.
I saw Big Bird in the Land of Make Believe, but I never saw the eps. w/Mr. Rogers on Sesame Street. Can anyone fill me in?
Sounds good to me, except that my kid really likes those segments. She likes seeing other little kids, esp. since we live out in the rural country and there aren't many little kids around.
But I'd rather have a classic song or parody sketch there, any day!
I dunno, but my 19 mo old has been "singing" it over and over since she was 14 mos and driving me nuts. (It wasn't so bad over the holidays, but sheeeesh!)
I understand why they do the repetition, but don't know why they chose that particular song.
There are 2 duets (that I know of). One w/Shawn Colvin (female) and one w/Aaron Neville (African American male w/very high voice)
Hope that clears things up!
Ah, how true! I mean, we can accept a giant yellow talking bird, a giant brown furry elephant-like creature, monsters, and talking bears! So, questioning the age of Ernie & Bert is rather academic.
I STILL don't get why they can't show Unpaved during the overnight hours during the week. It's not like their target audience "tweens" are UP at 3AM on a school night!
I think the metal detector scene and the other airport/airplane scenes just bothered me because of the currernt airport security situation. It was funny watching them WALK on the tarmac and climb the stair to get to the plane! How long has it been since we could do THAT (unless you're taking a...
I remember Big Bird tried to introduce Snuffy (or rather Mr. Snuffleupagus!) to everyone, but Snuffy kept wandering off so no one else believed Big Bird. It used to really bother me as a little kid!
As much as I couldn't stand Alphaquest, it was exponentially better than AlphaBoy. I'm glad they stopped making Alphaquest; it was one of my least favorite segments ever.
I finally get a chance to watch Unpaved early this morning (my toddler decided 3:45 AM was a perfectly fine hour to wake up for the day) and was sooooo disappointed because I was sooooo bored by 95% of the episode. It was the one where Bob & Marie & Mr. Hooper & Oscar & Big Bird (& somone else...
I don't remember that one, but I remember the one with Grover and the letter G that kept growing, and growing, and growing!
Kinda scary as a little kid!
That's always been one of my favorite clips and songs since I was a little kid. I was so happy to see it again, even on Number of the Day of the current season.
Did someone say it's on the 25th Anniversary DVD? I just bought it and I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail!
That whole AAP guideline about kids not watching TV until they're 2 is silly. Obviously whoever made that suggestion has never tried to cook dinner with an 18 month old running wild in the kitchen!
I have to admit that I let my kid watch too much TV sometimes. Especially with this blizzard...
Everyone complains about Elmo's World and Journey to Ernie segments in the new format. But there were some pretty bad (IMO) recurring segments in past seasons:
Sesame Street Goes to Day Care
Ernie's Show and Tell
Alphaquest
Anything else?
And of course some of my fave recurring...
