Just about any Wegman dogs live action I love. They're so weird. I don't know how he does that with his dogs. When I had a dog, I couldn't get her to sit still -- forget about dressing the up in weird costumes!
(mentioned this before) The one where the two little girls are playing with the dollhouse and the two cats come crashing through it.
Also the orange ball going on the metal roller coaster thing, when it gets ground up at the end.
Those two aren't really scary, but they sure bothered me as...
I didn't know Wegman had his own videos. I only knew his work from the still dog photos. I bet they're really weird. I'll have to try and track some down.
I have to admit, when I heard that they were changing the format, I was disappointed. Then I watched the way my 18 mo old daughter watches the new SS versus the Classic SS.
Since the viewing audience of SS has gotten younger (my guess is that there's too much other programming for the...
I was watching yesterday's (Wed feb 19) afternoon (3:30P) 1-2-3 Sesame episode on Noggin, and a Furry Arms sketch was the main story (Benny (is that his name?) the Bunny bellhop greases everything with chicken fat).
Furry Arms is after my time, so wasn't familiar with it. It reminded me of...
Interesting point about producers not wanting to face the wrath of angry parents!
And it's probably too hard to write on two levels (kids & adults) without offending SOMEBODY.
I'd send you SSU tapes if I could remember to tape them in the first place. :o
I'm sure there's a lot financial reasons there isn't a CTW network. After all, creating TV networks cost millions and millions of dollars and if they don't feel they can make a profit out of it (I'm sure they did...
OK, so now I'm curious about the Wegman dog clips. What years were they done? They're so strange, I love them!
What are some of the clips?
Off the top of my head:
6 dogs in a canoe
Dogs build a #1
I know there's tons more, but it's late and my brain isn't working.....
Like some folks mentioned before, the classic characters work on two levels, one for kids, one for adults. The newer characters seem geared strictly for kids....and really little ones, too!
No doubt part of that was a conscious decision since the target audience keeps getting younger (my...
I like celebrity guest sements, so a couple from this year...
Liam Neeson w/Ernie & rubber duckie
Ray Charles w/a variety of celeb clips
Although the Christopher Reeve ABC segment disturbed me a bit. Not sure why....
They occasionally (VERY occasionally!) put a Monsterpiece Theater segment in during "Monster Time". Guess there's only so much Monster Clubhouse anybody can take in one week!
For me, personally, part of it is nostalgia.
The other part for me is that these characters don't seem to have as much, well, CHARACTER as the older ones. They seem to be targeted to the under-three segment.
The new ones don't seem to have the same level of sophistication with a sense of...
They scatter a few retro segments through the show. (Monster Time, Number/Letter of the Day, Journey to Ernie) Just not enough, IMO. Of course, since Elmo's World takes up 1/2 the show, not enough time to get more in, I guess!
Was anyone else bothered as a kid by the fact that when Snuffy was introduced only Big Bird could see him because he used to wander off and everyone thought Snuffy was imaginary? That used to really upset me!
How long was it before the rest of the cast started seeing Snuffy?
Trying to figure out what classics were done on Monsterpiece Theater:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Guys and Dolls
The King and I
Cyrano DeBergerac
Gone With the Wind
39 Steps (?)
What else? These are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head.....
