Has anyone had any experience with any of the Sesame Street software titles? I was going to get one for my 21 month old, but they are getting pretty crummy reviews on Amazon.com! (p.s. she can't use a mouse yet, so is there anything that's more on the "hit the keyboard and something happens" level)
What's the actual running time of your average SS episode? I was just wondering, because the eps on Noggin are only running 45 minutes -- and that's with the opening segment and closing credits! So I'm guessing they cut out a segment or two.
Also, I noticed during "Pledge Week" they cut out a...
They play foreign SS on univision? I get it, too, but never thought of looking for SS (or whatever its foreign incarnation is) on it. What's it called, and when is it on?
Well, they didn't overhaul the whole format this year, just tweaked it a little. And they didn't have that post-9/11 episode hype this year either. Although I did see an article in our newspaper about them adding Global Grover and that godawful Global Thingy.
I think it's all speculation at this point. Granted, Secret Squirrel neither confirmed nor denied ssetta's speculations, but still.....
I was reading where they are digitizing and cataloging all the Sesame Street episodes. Now, I can't imagine them doing this without assuming that SS will...
I'm looking for the "Aquarium" song which was a spoof of "Aquarius/Let The Sun Shine". When I was so shocked to hear it, I was riveted to the screen for the whole segment!
Someone mentioned DVD on demand.....Isn't SS in the process of digitizing and cataloging all the episodes with a search feature as well as licensing info? I would think that in the future it wouldn't be too hard to then create an interface which would allow DVD on demand sometime in the future...
Do they still have "Guy Smiley" type game show hosts on real game shows? He may just be outdated in that sense. I don't think game shows of that sort are as popular as they used to be. Today, I think "game show host" and it's Alex Trebek or Pat Sajak.
As much as I like the minor characters...
Just stuff I taped from TV. SS is the only "kiddie show" I can watch without wanting to bang my head against the wall. So I play 6 hour long SS tapes all day & nite to avoid having to watch "Oobi"
I agree that a Best Of would be more practical. Aside from the volume of 4000 episodes, they re-use so many clips you'd end up with a whole bunch of copies of say "The Alligator King". Lord knows I'm sick of seeing the same Elmo's Worlds over and over again just on the episodes I have on tape...
I think that is Noggin wanted to really dump SS they would have cut it down to 1 show during the new season and dumped PWMS all together since Elmo's not featured on that (where ARE those new PWMS eps anyway???). But they didn't. They are still showing SS 3 times a day, and PWMS twice.
