There's gotta be a nostalgia factor for the old SS eps. I mean the SS Unpaved book was written for adult SS fans. Perhaps Noggin isn't the proper outlet, but I hope the folks in charge of this sort of thing realize that there IS a market for them!
I just don't buy the "there's no market for retro programming" excuse from Noggin. The Cartoon Network's Boomerang network appears to be doing fine showing classic cartoons, and they do things like have Banana Splits marathons.
But, apparently we're not the market that Noggin is trying to...
I have an aquaintance who plays for the New York Rangers (National Hockey League) who would love to do a Sesame Street guest segment since he has a three year old and a 1 1/2 year old. If anyone has any info on how he and probably some other teammates could get on, could you please let me know...
How the heck can they do a WHOLE HALF HOUR on talking hands??? At least something like Tiny Planets would be a cool half hour show, but Oobi????
I'm afraid to see Noggin's new schedule. Very afraid.
I was born in 1967, so the 1970s episodes and skits I love the best.
Never seen the shows from the 1980s and the only ones from the 1990s are the ones I see on Noggin (which I do like a lot, except for some annoying characters!!).
And I don't dislike the current version or Play With Me...
Yeah, I saw that one on Noggin, too. Forgot how much that one scared me as a kid! They'd probably never get away with that these days with these hypersensitive parents!
I remember having the 1970 Sesame Street Original Cast book & record. The one with the Gordon (Matt Robinson), Susan, Bob, Mr. Hooper & Big Bird standing next to the street sign. Does anyone have a track listing for that?
I've seen the cartoon typewriter guy on Noggin recently (not sure if its the same one you're talking about -- a red typewriter with white hands?). I was surprised they still show him since kids these days have no idea what a typewriter is!
Then again, on Play With Me Sesame, they had a party...
Wasn't Ernie's shirt purple & orange at one point? When did it permanently become red & blue?
Has Bert's shirt always been the same? And when did Prarie Dawn begin wearing that blue dress & bow permanently?
COOKIE MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why? Because he tries soooo hard to overcome his obsession but always ends up giving in! (I can relate!)
And he's funny.
And who can resist those GOOGLY EYES?????
Thanks, that was fascinating info.
I always find the subject of contracts and royalties intriguing. I think a lot of folks forget about that side of it. We have to keep in mind that this is, after all, a business, and all the talents need to be compensated.
On the other hand, it seems such...
I'm confused, why does it make you mad? I must be missing something. If they are archiving everything, then I would assume that would mean a lot of classic footage that will appear in the future provided it fits in with the "theme". Or am I missing something?
This bit I found interesting...
Yeah, but WE'RE not the target audience -- the target audience is 1-3 year olds. My 19mo gets upset if after the Monster Time intro Monster Clubhouse DOESN'T come on.
What seasons were those sets used? I was just wondering, because my kid's lift-the-flap books have Finders Keepers, Furry Arms, the subway, the playground, etc.
Honestly, I love Ruth Buzzi, but I didn't care for her on SS.
You're not imagining it. Using the episode guide from sesamebeat.com (has seaon 33 eps up to 4008)
12 Monster Clubhouse
9 Guest Star segments
5 aren't mentioned
2 "other" (one is Herry & Rosita singing lullabys to their dolls, the other is telly & elmo cooperating to play the tuba & drum...
