Oh Blast! I'm going to the "other" festival in Missouri! Not sure why other had to be in parenthesis. Just did.
Well, if anyone is going to PuppetFest Midwest, I'll be the pirate..er.uh..yeah. no.
Thanks, Robin!
Noah is really responsible for the amazingnessicity of it all. He did nearly everything. Right up to the animation & editing. (Although I am pretty darn proud of my butterfly...)
I'm not going to show your puppet to a friend of mine who just made his first...he's in his 30s and its not nearly as great as yours is! Well done! *and if he happens to read this, I think he'd agree* ;)
thanks guys!
Noah Ginex is the guy responsible for the design and the building of the puppets. He and his family are very talented puppet and prop builders. The main puppeteers were Noah Ginex, Frankie Cordero, Jeremy Eckman, myself & Bill Larkin. Amanda Roundtree & Leslie Wacker were also...
Hey guys!
The secret fun project I was working on JUST got released! Which means I can officially wee in my pants in delight! YARRR
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2979472/8537568
It's my first real video project, and hopefully not my only one. Maybe uhh..i could rehearse more for the next one...
See, this is whyI wish i was in connecticut. Uconn has a puppetry program there. I'm not sure if you need to be a full time student to take the courses.
The Connecticut guild of puppetry seems to be an active charter branch of the Puppeteers of America. I'm sure it all depends which part of...
haha! Nooo my middle name is Rebecca. I can see how people would be confused, though.
Thanks guys! I'm still really excited about it!
I've got one more lovely secret-ish thing in the works that I'm really excited about, so just waiting on that one now! (Oh the suspense!)
Hey guys!
So I had this project going back in March and April that kept me pretty busy, I don't think I mentioned a whole lot about it, just because I kept thinking that it wasn't real. (You know how easily things fall through...)
But its real...
Every now and again the words I mean to say are actually the ones people understand. Hooray and Yar. Both.
(Oh! And I wanted to mention that when I see mindless filth on stage from puppets, I feel better about who I am.)
Its funny how most adults find 'adult humor' to be juvenile.
Puppet shows that are not intended for children, in my opinion, are just as valid as music not intended for children or paintings not intended for children. Its not just something I can consider as a take it or leave it type of...
You could reinforce the inside of the mouth with wire, attach the string to the wire, run it through the top of the mouth, through a loop in the top of the head and then back down to where the thumb control would be.
I'm going to do the unsuitable for kids under 3 thing again... I make finger...
Washers...rocks..fishing weights...
I'm sure you'd want a weight in the feet. I'm not a marionette puppeteer, but I'd also think one in the hands or the forearms would be good. Torso, maybe?
I'm calling PuppetFest Midwest today to tell them which workshop I want to take...I'm *planning* on...
I wish I could go! I'll be at an improv festival in New York that very weekend! So close I could throw pebbles at you! (well..in comparison to now, I suppose)
You might want to shy away from a rod puppet with an 11-month-old. I get a lot of people requesting dangerous things for little kids..its just not worth the risk as a builder. as a parent you know your child, but there's always that one instance that you're not watching that makes you feel like...
I'd imagine its very possible! The Great Az Puppet Theater uses carved styrofoam covered in Paper Maiche, and then they add weights to the puppets. The idea of a sewn and/or carved foam puppet makes me more attracted to marionettes only because I'm afraid of knives cutting off my fingers when...
