Glad to hear that, heralde! I think it's very safe to say that the section on Richard's quilt is one of the best in the book. It's a lot of fun to just go over the details on each of the patches.
Mom ordered a copy from Amazon some time ago, but it STILL hasn't come in, so we're having the...
Wow - iPod in the refrigerator...well, it does give new meaning to "cool tunes."
But on a somber note: I heard on CNN that Beverly Sills is really sick. She's got cancer, and the reports are describing her as being "gravely ill." The report also mentioned her appearance on TMS, but it still...
Oh, do I know where you're coming from. At school, to hook up your computer onto the campus network, you practically need a Ph.D in computer engineering these days.
And BeakerSqueedom, glad to hear the e-mail system finally decided to work! Sometimes you've got to go in there and give the...
Hmm...I do greatly agree with keeping certain aspects of the Muppet performers' private lives off limits, except for what is already generally known, but does this mean that any and all fan club threads are going to be shut down? :concern:
Nora: No, aliens did NOT create the Egyptian pyramids! And for that matter...
MN: Oh, pipe down, Nora, you're starting to sound like one of my old professors.
Nora: (parks on sofa in a huff) I resent that...ow. (rubs eyes)
MN: Sixth of July, same as me. And speaking of ancient Egyptian history...
A cell phone accident in the washing machine? Hmm, that hasn't happened around here (not yet, but there's a first time for everything), but we do see wallets and car keys (usu. my dad's and brother's) from time to time.
Oh, and Jane is doing just fine, according to Amanda. She's just feeling...
Go for it, Sara, it looks nice.
Amanda's written to tell me she's already received "some perfect things" for the project, and to tell you guys thanks.
I checked up on Jane - she's doing just fine; she's just feeling "old." And yes, Kim, I told her that she was welcome to drop in here in an...
I just started on "The Eyre Affair," by Jasper Fforde. I'm only a few pages in, but it's a sci-fi mystery with a literary flavor, and it seems rather funny. I'll get back to you once I'm farther along.
Nora: So Amanda's doing an art project?
MN: Yeah, she's looking for art or photos related to or depicting Richard. It's going to be a present for Jane.
Storyteller: Oh, how nice.
MN: Yeah, she asked me to pass it along to everyone - I stuck a nice big notice about it up in the fiction and art...
Okay, everyone, I'm delivering a special announcement on behalf of Amanda Smith, aka beakersbreakers, aka Richard Hunt's niece.
She's doing an art project as a present for her grandmother (Richard's mother Jane), and she is looking for photos/pictures of things that the fans have made...
It's okay, heralde - I just heard from Amanda again and got some more details.
She is looking for photos of Richard himself, or photos/pictures of items people have made/done/written about or for Richard (and yes, that photo of the quilt I sent to her did make it through). This includes fan...
Too right; Richard does not seem to be fond of doing "cute and cuddly."
Guys, heads up. I just got an e-mail from Amanda. Yes, as in Richard's niece. She's working on a project for her grandmother, and she'd like us to send in pictures for it. I fired back a message to ask for additional...
Oh, it's one of those "if you don't know the chorus, you're all out of luck" songs. Poor guy.
And the Gorch sketches - when I first heard the mighty Favog advise Scred on his love life, I thought, "Holy cow, the Muppets are tackling this stuff?"
Hope everyone had a good weekend; I went to...
MN: (walks in, singing in a hoarse voice) "You walk tall, got your head in the clouds, you talk soft, but you're thinking aloud..."
Storyteller: More like singing aloud, songbird. And what's that sticking out of your purse?
MN: Well, first things first. Went to Atlantic City to see Asia (the 80s...
I've not actually read anything by Lovecraft, but I do have a book called "Shadows Over Baker Street." It's a collection of recently written Sherlock Holmes stories that take place in situations inspired by Lovecraft's work.
I attended a discussion on the Holmes stories earlier in the semester...
I just read "Pomegranate Soup," by Marsha Mehran. It's set in a small Irish village during the mid-1980s, and it's the story of three sisters who settle there and open their own cafe, having just fled the revolution in Iran. It's an excellent book; got through it in one sitting.
