    Season 40 Hidden Gems

Luckily, it looks like that one ("Big Bird's wing in a sling") will be on PBS again next week (at least in my area, check your listings just to make sure). I missed it the first time too, so I'll try to catch it this time!

What was that classical piece on this cartoon?

Hi BuddyBoy600alt - I'm 95% sure that that music is from "Romeo and Juliet" by Tchaikovsky. I don't have a copy of it, but hopefully someone can confirm that that is the correct piece. It's definitely a beautiful piece of music. More info. on it here...

    Jim performing Ernie question

Well, he seemed to be comfortable at first, because before Sesame St. began taping, he and Frank had tried performing the opposite characters before realizing that Jim was happiest performing Ernie & Frank performing Bert. He continued performing Ernie up to the very end, even when Frank wasn't...

    Jim in Epcot American Adventure

Yes, it's definitely worth seeing if you ever make it to EPCOT. I saw it years ago, before Jim had been added in, but it's still a great "mini-history lesson" and a great show.

    Lost: The Final Season

My friend Jim is a fan and has made a list of the "top 42 moments from LOST" on his blog. You can find them in the archives, along with some episode reviews (and I suspect more to come!): http://cinemacervello.blogspot.com/ http://cinemacervello.blogspot.com/2010/02/lost-601-la-x.html

TV & LP Versions Of Songs.

This topic would make a long (but interesting) study. In most cases, both versions are good, but in different ways. For example, on the LP version of "Exit" (from the "Signs" album), the music is interrupted at points as various characters announce their intention to leave the concert. The TV...

Loretta Long Struck by a Car

Very sorry to hear about this, but very glad she is doing OK. I join in the prayers for a speedy recovery.

Kermit having different homes on SS

I suspect that Kermit actually still owns the apartment on Sesame St., but just uses it when he is in town. As noted, he's not the average frog and can afford such luxuries. Incidentally, I think the actual location of the apartment was down the street (to the left, off camera) from the Fix-it-Shop.

    Air Supply

Nothing to be ashamed of. :) They have some great songs. They actually did a small concert recently near SoCal, so they are still around and singing.

MTV finally takes "Music" out of name

Sigh. Thanks for posting about this. Like so many of us, I'm not too surprised. It's clear that they've been neglecting the music industry for years. I watched it back in the late 1980s when it was still a music channel. Admittedly, it wasn't perfect, but for teen kids it was one of the best...

Will there be a CD collection for Sesame's 40th anniversary?

Yay! Good to know these are on the way. Thanks for letting us know.

The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Thread!

I haven't been to the museum yet, though I'd love to check it out. There was a small local exhibit of Schulz's work last year, but I was a little disappointed to learn that the comic strips they had were reprints and not the actual drawings themselves. (They still looked great, but it's always...

    The State of Fandom

Very high praise. I must agree that this is one of the friendliest message boards there is. Thanks to you all for making it that way.

    The State of Fandom

I know, I wish more sites would make reading easier on us. If you press "control" and scroll forward with your mouse, that zooms in on the computer image. Another way is to copy and paste the text into an empty text document. Then you can bump up the point size manually.

That must have been a fun show. Which songs did you perform?

The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Thread!

Thanks to you both for the thoughts and links - I'm a big time "Peanuts" fan too. I agree that having Schulz "in charge" probably kept the strip's popularity going for as long as it did. It kept pretty much the same "feel" to it, even though the styles and plot lines and sometimes even the humor...

Gumby Creator Art Clokey Dies at 89

I first came to appreciate Art Clokey's work through "Davey and Goliath," which is another favorite kids' show of mine. For some reason, my local stations never ran "Gumby" until much later. But when I saw the old "Gumby" films, I felt they had much the same feel and fun as the D&G films. He was...

Was this really news? Fox News attacks Mr. Rogers

A while back, I blogged all about this issue: http://heroshaven.blogspot.com/2007/07/youve-got-to-do-it.html In summary, yes, it was a stupid claim. :) If I recall correctly, the person who initially made the statement has backed off a bit, indicating that it is not Fred Rogers himself who...

    Sesame Street signature songs

Cool lists- I'd like to recommend "Doin' the snuffleupagus" as Snuffy's signature song. He's only sung it twice (once in the old school days and again in the 90s I think), but it is the song that goes along with the music that used to play in the "invisible snuffy" days whenever he would enter...
