Not exactly about food, but curious.
Here in New Jersey the big supermarket chain is ShopRite. There’s also a few ALDI stores.
Kings is where the rich people shop, and even a few Acme still exist.
But do any of you have stores where the shopping carts are chained together, and to get one you insert a quarter, and you get a cart. When you’re done shopping, you chain your cart back up, and you get your quarter back.
I imagine this policy is so people don’t leave their carts in the parking lot, and/or they don’t have to pay someone to round up the carts.
ShopRite is a decent company to work for. I have a friend who was there for ten years. The only drawback is it’s unionized. If you’re full time, it’s good. But part time, your union dues eat up a lot of your check.
