Chapter 5: Love Led Us Here
Miss Piggy stood in the middle of her dressing room. She clasped a picture of Kermit. A tear drop fell on the glass.
It was late. And everyone had gone. She was alone.
Or so she thought.
Kermit's ghost silently walked on the rafter above her. He grasped a blue handkerchief. He dropped it on her vanity.
She turned around. "That wasn't there before was it?" She sat the picture on her vanity and sat down. She wiped her eyes. She closed them tight and began brushing her long blonde hair.
Now was his chance. He hopped off of the rafter without making a sound. He walked behind her chair. His reflection was in her mirror. "Was I dumb or was I blind?" He sang.
She opened her eyes and saw Kermit's reflection. She spun around immediatly. There was nothing there.
Kermit had phased through the floor. "Or did my heart just lose its mind?
Why'd I go and throw our perfect dream away?"
Miss Piggy walked around her room. "Looking back I'll never know,
How I ever let you go,
Now destiny says we deserve another chance."
"Love led us here!" Kermit's voice sang.
"Right back to where we belong." Piggy followed.
"We followed a star and here we are,
Now Heaven seems so near!" They harmonized.
"Love led us here!"
"I know that life may take you by surprise!
And sweep you off your feet."
"Is this happening to me,
Or am I just dreaming?"
"Love led us here.
Right back to where we belong.
We followed a star.
And here we are,
Now Heaven seems so near.
Love led us here."
"So take my word."
"And have no fear." He sang.
"It'll be alright.
Love led us here." They finished.
Miss Piggy had opened every droor in her room and pushed aside every object. She dropped to her knees. "Kermie..." She sobbed into her hand.
Kermit picked up the handkerchief and dropped it in front of her. Then dissapeared.
"You're sure it's alright if me and Radar sleep here tonight Mr. Fozzie?" Big Bird asked.
"Oh yeah it's fine. I just can't believe that the hotels don't allow six-foot tall yellow birds." Fozzie said taking a seat in an armchair.
The Sesame Street gang were all staying at a local hotel, and the Fraggles were all asleep in the corner.
Rowlf and Clifford walked out of the kitchen. Rowlf was carrying a tray of mugs.
"Thought you guys might want some hot chocolate." Rowlf said.
"Thanks Rowlf!" Big Bird sipped his cocoa.
The others sat silently for awhile. Fozzie sighed.
"I could play a tune for you guys on the piano." Rowlf said. "It's out of tune. You know how much I like out of tune pianos."
No one answered. Big Bird broke the ice. "I'd like that Rowlf." Big Bird said.
Rowlf nodded and sat at his piano. He started playing a tune.
Big Bird tapped his foot. "La de da de dum," he sang. "Oh, sorry, I'm just trying to remember the name of this song. It goes la de da de dum, la de da de dum. What's the name of that song?"
"Yeah,
It goes la de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
Somethin' somethin' birds." Clifford sang.
"Uh huh.
La de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
I wish I remembered the words!" Rowlf sang.
Fozzie sat in the char.
"La de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
What's the name of that song?" The other three sang.
"La de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
I'd like to sing right along!" Big Bird sang.
"La de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
A fella can't go wrong." Rowlf continued.
"So la de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
We need the name of that song!" All three sang.
Fozzie couldn't resist singing. Even his depression wouldn't stop him now.
"It goes la de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
Something something nice!" Fozzie sang.
Big Bird nodded. "La de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
I think it repeats itself twice!"
Gonzo walked down the stairs. He heard the music.
"La de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
What's the name of that song?"
Gonzo walked in. "La de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
I know the name of that song!"
Everyone stared at him. "It's called-oh wait,
I think I got it.
No I must be wrong." He said.
"So la de da de dum,
La de da de dum.
What's the name of that song?"
The Swedish Chef entered from the kitchen. "Floop de doop de doop,
Flope de dope de dope."
Wembley woke up. He rubbed his eyes.
"What's the name of that song?
"We go la de da de dum,
La de da de dum,
Then we start all over again!" Everyone sang.
"La de da de dum,
La de da de dum."
"Something shining above?" Wembley sang.
"The words fit like a glove!"
"We can't help singing la de da de dum,
Loud and clear and strong!" Everyone continued.
"But, la de da de dum,
La de da de dum, la de da de dum,
La de da de dum, laaaaaa!!!"
"What IS the name of that song?" Big Bird finished.
All the Muppets laughed and nodded. They were having fun again.
