Awesome Piggy, and great solution to the problem of full size muppets akin up too much space. If there is one criticism to be made, it's that I don't remember the cleavage of her porcine highness being quite so developed.
Separate to whether it is a good idea or not, I think it should be pointed out that Madam Tussaud's clothe their waxworks in real clothes, create real-hair wigs, etc. I doubt very much that a Madam Tussaud wax-work of Kermit, Fozzie or any of the others would be rendered in anything other than...
Thanks for taking the time to read through my novella Travis, comment on it, and not take any offence at some of the less than flattering observations I made.
I guess that my pro-Fozzie argument comes from this reasoning, which may be totally not the way the world works: Soliciting a more...
ElecMayhem - you'd know this better than I would, and I could be totally off, but with these sorts of companies I don't get the feeling that a huge amount of market research is done. That would make sense, since that's a costly exercise and you've got a fairly small market to start with. But it...
WOE and/or muppetperson - was wondering if you could provide some insight for me. Maybe I'm just being single minded because he's my favourite character, but can you help me understand what exactly the huge challenge Fozzie apparently poses? As far as I can tell he's a perfect option for a...
While this is a very negative point of view, I don't know that efx will be all that concerned if the Disney/Muppet executives are unimpressed with them. The poser license was always going to be a bit of a gamble, and they may well have decided it's more trouble than it is worth. Of course, I...
So after extended and continual delays, eFX will (might) finally release a second-tier character. There's absolutely no way they'll be able to regain whatever momentum and excitement they might have had from the announcement in order to be able to push through to the next character (which, if I...
I think it's also useful to remember that - at best - eFX have only committed to any form of R&D on two characters that could be used for Star Wars - Kermit and Piggy. Piggy is historically the worst-selling character, Kermit as Luke would be largely unrecognisable out of context (the costume...
Anything that pushes Fozzie even further out of the line up can only be bad news as far as I'm concerned :( Rizzo, two Kermits (three if you count the MR version), and two Piggys before Fozzie? As far as I'm concerned that's a monumental fail.
So...two things:

Anyone else think that some of the posers in the still shots are looking a little...funky? Fozzie in particular looks like they resurrected the weird Muppets from Space bandana poser. And that is not a good thing. Definitely not...
Speaking from experience, you cannot take a UK price (especially from Forbidden Planet, whose prices are always very high) and assume that the converted US dollar price is what will be charged in the US. Unfortunately when it comes to collectibles, outside of the US there is usually only one...
Really disappointed, but not at all surprised, at the projected price of around $400 for Rizzo (I know this is just speculation, but it does seem to have some basis since it was given as an example to someone by the company). At these prices, and with the character choices (Rizzo - arguably not...
Brian,
Is there a tentative release schedule that you can share with us? (especially one mentioning Fozzie? ;-))
(and, not to derail the thread again, but for those interested in drag queen frog headdresses, check here: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1404/626626869_bb76422501.jpg?v=0)
Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree Jamie! As an out gay man myself who's lived in London, NYC and Sydney (probably only San Francisco beats any of those three for its pinkness! ha) I just have never come across any real love for Piggy as a gay icon - in fact the only Muppet reference I...
Really, you think so? Hmm. I've never really noticed much Pig-love in the "community" (there are jokes to be made there, but since this is a family site I'll move on)...definitely nothing on the level of Judy or Madonna. I'd even suggest it was maybe a generational thing but we're around the...
I guess it's just a difference in priorities. I want something that looks just like what I see on screen or in pictures, and if I'm investing a not-insubstantial amount of money in it, I want it to last. I personally couldn't care less how close to the original materials they are, as long as...
That would be my first suggestion of the way to go. Flocking rubs off with movement, however (the real Piggy puppets have that problem too) so it will be another Gonzo-like challenge to find a balance between durability and authenticity.
I think while they ponder that problem they should...
Rizzo looks great, though I predict pages and pages of discussion about the durability of foam ears. Those fingers seem pretty shiny as well... Kermit doesn't impress me much, but that's because he's an old MR version and I have no interest in buying another Frog anyway. A BIG (and pleasant)...
Sigh...I'm sure these guys have done their market research, but I can't help but think that Kermit and Rizzo are poor choices to start off this line. Kermit has already been produced, and took a while to sell out, and the simple addition of a trenchcoat will not be enough to entice people to buy...
