No chance that Gonzo will be joining the boys - at least, not one I made myself. I have the MR version, but the thought of finding the right fur (not much choice here in Sydney!) and carving a proper nose is well beyond my capabilities!
Interestingly enough I did go looking for wooden hands...
Thanks guys!
Wafflesnacker (love the name!) thanks for the feedback but I'm not sure I agree...it might be the result of trying to take a one-handed iPhone photo while my other arm is otherwise occupied with a Frog. I've noticed it's impossible for me to take a front on photo since Kermit's...
So apart from a final internal head/neck armature to give his head some shape when there's no hand inside, my Kermit is done. I'm pretty happy with how he turned out - there's a few minor changes I would make if I did it again, but right now I need a break from trying to sew invisible seams!
Thanks for the feedback, guys.
I've spent the last two days trying to build his body - the first seemed too small and not rounded enough, the second is too large. I've learned the hard way that once a foam body is skinned in antron it significantly changes the perception of its size...add to...
Not a fan. It looks like they reviewed a Muppet comic book in order to design them (Fozzie and Gonzo in particular). Scooter is the closest to a "puppet" look, but even he's more illustrated than "real"
I have re-Frogged (using 3mm rubber again though - the 1.5mm was just too thin, and since this will be mostly a poser, I don't need too much flex in the mouth):
Here he is next to my first attempt - I've replaced the eyes on the first one from 35mm spheres with ping pong halves:
Thanks for the feedback. It's pretty loose on my hand (my hands are on the smaller side anyway), the shape of the head is really being helped out by some fibre fill. I'll give it a shot at 90% - just used photoshop to keep the eyes at 100% but reduced everything else to 90% and this is the...
Thanks for the feedback you guys!
FoxWorthy - I'm actually going for a slightly more recent era Frog, so that explains the point on his head - but thanks for the suggestions about pupil size and mouth.
Muppetlab - the eyes are indeed 35mm - I am building a new head this weekend with a more...
I definitely understand where you're coming from. I guess all I'm saying is that it actually looks like they've put a huge amount of thought into this (either that or I've put way too much thought into it and am just justifying decisions they took without much regard!). If there's anything that...
I completely understand where you're coming from. I wonder, though, if Kermit was really all that "mean", or if it wasn't just that we've become so accustomed to the overly saccharine and almost rigidly moral attitudes many of these characters have been assigned over the last few years. Frankly...
The first episode was perfectly enjoyable. There may have been a couple of areas for improvement (celebrity cameos that weren't tightly integrated with the story, possibly too many plot lines and set-ups for a 22 minute sitcom) but these are the sort of teething problems most shows experience...
