Did they give you any reason for this? I would have assumed that if the show was licenced then character likenesses would form part of that? It actually surprises me that they're not insisting on the opposite, ie characters remaining true to the original designs...
That is one problem I have with the Project Puppet patterns, and that's that you can't really see what the pattern creates. It would be nice to see what the canvass looks like before it is painted on.
I've scrunched his face a couple of times maybe, I don't know that it would impact on the longevity of the material that much, but I find that it takes so long for me to get the hape of his face right that I really don't like repositioning it very often. I'll play around with his arms and legs...
Very awesome. Every time I see something like this I go to the MR site and have to remind myself I don't know yet if I'll have a tax return or tax bill!
That said, two pieces of (I hope) constructive criticism: first, try to have them all focusing on the one point rather than three different...
Anyone else notice that there are two different Fozzie puppets used in the videos? I much prefer the one used for the dance sequence than Fozzie's joke.
Dude, Travis has said that he agrees the eye placement is not as good as your Photoshopped version. I would imagine, though, that Palisades had the benefit of paint masks to make eye placement much more uniform than the hand-applied ones of the posers.
He's also explained the business logic...
Hey Travis, just a quick question out of curiosity, are the plastic parts on the posers tooled and molded specifically for the product, or are they "off the shelf" items you purchase pre-made?
I'm in the same boat, WOE, I guess I'll just hold out for Fozzie (but that, at least, is a guaranteed sale for me...even if I have to completely customise him, I've as good as spent whatever he's going to cost!)
No, the Australian Humphrey B. Bear was/is a guy in a suit, who used to host a preschooler TV show (as well as any bear who can't talk can host a show)... www.humphreybear.com
I agree - I saw most of the original cast on Broadway, the only person I didn't see there was Ann Harada, but I got to see her in the West End production (the original Nicky/Trekkie performer in that production was excellent too)
I'd be really surprised if the hat was, and it would probably be quite easy to remove even if it was. The scarf on the real puppet covers up the join between the head and the body, right? So it could conceivably be sewn on to the poser, even if just to keep the bow in order.
You don't mean Humphrey B. Bear, do you? If so, there are generations of Australians to whom he is anything but obscure! If that's the guy, I had no idea Disney had picked him up as a property...
It may not just be Gonzo's presales, Animal's sales may also be less than anticipated, and Kermit may have been slower to sell than they were hoping. Like you, I'm nervous that my favorite muppet won't be made - although that nervousness is around Fozzie. As we saw with a bunch of the Palisades...
