This is actually an odd thing specific to the holiday's English name, no other language describes it as "Good" Friday. In other languages the name translates roughly to Holy Friday, Sorrowful Friday, and Great and Holy Friday.

There's a few designs I've seen but don't know of any URLs...try searching for Punch and Judy stages as some Punch performers use those. Many common puppetry books have stage designs in them. Check the library. Myself I would just make a PVC frame and find a way to mount it on to a frame...

This is an old thread. I was toying with doing Bear Town as a web comic but decided to go with video after realizing that it was going to be as much work either way...
This will be of interest if you've ever dreamed of making your own Tron costume (I for the record haven't), are a big fan of Tron or just kinda like seeing middle aged men in ridiculously tight spandex costumes.

Welcome to MC. As Pauly pointed out many of the folks here build puppets, but you probably won't find anyone more affordable than Puppets For Goodness Sake...their email is puppets4gs@aol.com
The quality of their puppets relative to their price is just about unbeatable IMO.
Ideally you want to keep your arm perfectly straight, but also as relaxed and loose as possible. If anything ever feels strained in puppetry chances are you're doing it wrong.
It takes practice to build up the necessary muscle endurance. If you keep doing it eventually it just gets easier...
