I am slowly bringing my web site back online...I'm going to be adding a number of new articles and features over the next month or so. The first is a guide to puppet building resources. Most of these have probably been pointed out by either myself or other people here in the forum before, but I...
If you pick up John Kennedy's book Puppet Mania! there is a really good, easy method for converting most plush toys in to puppets. You should be able to find the book at a local bookstore in the "craft" section or I have links to places to purchase it online at...
They do this for almost all Matt's "Journey To Ernie" segments, which I think is pretty cool. It's definately a third puppeteer. They do a lot of this on Sesame. Ever seen pictures or video of "Team Elmo" making him do one of his little dance numbers? They have four or more puppeteers working on...
So how come you didn't suggest this BEFORE I started welding a bunch of brass tubes this week?! :p
Seriously, that's a great little method. I'd be surprised if someone hasn't thought of it elsewhere (great minds do think alike). Very cool.
Alexander Danner posted a really great article on copyright in this week's Comixpedia. In it he stresses - among other things - the importance of registering your work in the United States, which I didn't know.
A good read if you're interested in or curious about copyright issues...
I've just muffined this thread, but Krazedmuppet's got one of my fav MC avatars! :D
Brian Froud is great too. I'm not so in to fantasy art usually, but I've really loved his last few books.
For anyone on the west coast who might be interested, I got this in an email today:

I know at one point they had a strict line between the Creature Shop and the Muppet Workshop - that started sometime after some of the early Creature Shop series in the UK like Mother Goose Stories. The feeling was that the CS was starting to tread on the Muppet's turf so someone decided that...
I'm not sure how well this works (it tooks a little odd to tell you the truth) but there is a "beginner" pattern for a moving mouth foam puppet at http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/Balcony/1282/1.html
Has anyone tried this? The site is very slow and it can take a minute or two for each page...
The Creature Shop doesn't build the Bear costumes though right? I thought they had a strict line drawn between them and (whatever is left of) the Muppet workshop.
Normally I hate people who clutter up my inbox with those well-intended but annoying "inspirational" emails (OK, I'm cynical I admit it) but every once and awhile I get a really good one. I haven't checked, but I assume this story is true:
His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish...
This is a few days late but kind of interesting all the same:
On April 12, 1994, a pair of attorneys in Arizona launched a homemade marketing software program that forever changed the Internet.
Hoping to drum up some business, Laurence Canter dashed off a Perl script that flooded online...

On April 9, my mom and dad, Nick and Mary Yankovic, passed away in
their home in Fallbrook, California. It was the result of a terrible
accident - that morning they had started a fire in the fireplace with the
flue closed, and were...
At $35,000 a bear (or whatever it is) you'd better not have any bloody trouble shutting the mouth and closing the eyes!
