Mahna Mahna on the Rag (show) podcast

Not sure if everyone knows this or not, but puppeteer Jim Napolitano and Muppet-performer Tim Lagasse have a weekly puppetry podcast called The Rag (show) where they spoof politics and current events using a style of puppetry they call “Wayang Zerox”. The latest episode (October 4, 2006) has...

    Christian Puppetry

Don't fall in to the trap of putting down yourself or your own work though. In discussions like this there are often people saying "I'm not that good". That's irrelevant and it's usually not true anyway. Honest self-criticism is important and I'm sure there's things about everyone's puppetry...

    human arm puppet pattern

I wish I had a scanner handy. I just spent a week here working on new live arm patterns. I will try to get it posted or some pics, but no promises.

    Christian Puppetry

You know I'm a big believer in the power of a good idea. What bugs me more so than anything else isn't the quality of performance, or the puppets but (from what I've seen) the lack of ideas. Maybe I'm making huge generalizations here, but quoting scripture and telling bible stories can be done...

Anyone with an interest in puppetry should post here Fragglemuppet. Welcome! :)

    Christian Puppetry

Personally, I think the cost of puppets is irrelevant. I just helped a school here in Mexico do a big 20 minute science-based show that involved about 40 puppets of cells, insects and a giant 20 foot long caterpillar that morphed in to ten butterflies. The teacher spent about $35 on materials...

    ED's Night Party Hot Tub

I don't have a lot of suggestion for the puppet in the hot tub, but this is great news Faze. Congrats!

I can't find it in the dictionary (just checked), but then I'm living in Mexico.

    Puppetry Blog Favouritism

No problem. Since it's come up, if ever someone writes me about something for PuppetVision and I don't post it, it's never intended to be a personal slight. More than likely it's just a time thing.

    Puppetry Blog Favouritism

Beazel, I'm sending you a private email regarding this to address what you specifically mentioned, but in general I did fall really far behind with keeping on top of stuff over the summer because I was moving around and usually only had limited internet access. For example, a colleague in Isreal...

    Christian Puppetry

I always agonize over discussing this subject, because on the one hand I don't want to attack someone's grandmother or a group of teenagers doing puppetry in a church basement for Sunday school, but on the other hand I would really like to see the artistic standards of the medium raised. Some...

    Puppetry Blog Favouritism

I wrote this in my first post, but I will ask again - can you cite specific examples of what you're talking about? I don't want to speak for others, but I really believe that people here who blog would be happy to give some attention to these shows that you're saying aren't being acknowledged...

    dotBoom Episode 3 is out!

Does your hosting service not provide detailed stats on downloaded files? It should be fairly straight forward to track that accurately. I use Google Analytics and Feedburner to track the stats on my different sites and find them extremely useful.

    Christian Puppetry

I'm curious to get people's thoughts on Christian puppetry. I recently posted my own thoughts about it on my PuppetVision Blog and was surprised at the response (there are links within the posts to a couple other blogs talking about Christian puppetry in the last few days). I really don't...

    dotBoom Episode 3 is out!

I finally got this to work after trying off and on for a few hours...maybe the server was just busy? (that would be a nice problem to have). I have to say that the more I watch this, the more I like it. It's getting better with every episode. Not everyone I've shown the show to "gets it" but...

    any puppeteers in boston

No problem. An ad on the PofA Bulletin Board might be good too. I know someone who found a puppeteer to work with by searching their area for MySpace members who had puppetry as an interest too.

    dotBoom Episode 3 is out!

I can't get this to load at all, I tried both FireFox and IE. The page comes up, but not the video (it won't load the file). I can't get it by putting the direct URL of the .mov file in Quicktime either. Any suggestions?

    any puppeteers in boston

Not sure how many people here are from your area, but have you tried contacting The Boston Area Guild of Puppetry? They might have some leads for you. You should also check out the Frappr Map of Puppeteers (if you haven't already) which I think has a couple of people in MA listed. A free ad on...
