Lol, well that's a long standing question! I think ideally it would be great to be less separate, I think every group has something different to give. It just seems that it's also differences that keep getting in the way. (Didn't I see this on that puppet show for kids, what's the name of that...
Well what I will say is, any religion is a man made organization run by humans and they are occasionally wrong. The faith itself is what's ultimately important. It is important for me to disinguish my faith from my religion, it's not always the same thing.
Well it does upset me when I see priests smoking. I think it should be discouraged, to be honest. Because it's very difficult to smoke "casually."
Yeah a lot of smokers still try to encourage others to quit, even though they still do it. I totally understand, it's not easy to quit. And it's...
As far as pollution...like we said, it's impossible to completely avoid it. So I suppose the bad thing would be if we didn't make the effort to recycle and throw away trash, advocating for political change etc.
If you're abusing drugs, you are hurting a human being, yourself. That is wrong, I...
Oh yeah, I didn't intend to imply otherwise. :)
Hmm...honestly, I don't know if I want to get into that. I'll wait and see how the conversation goes. But anyone else can feel free, in a respectful manner. :)
I think what people are upset about here is the language. The term "sin" is coming off as bossy and negative. Understandable. But I honestly think the Church is doing this not to be a pain, but because they haven't taken clear stances on some of these issues before, which they should have...
Well, we can't force people to give away their money. And it's not wrong to be wealthy in itself. But I do dislike this class system we have in this country (which rarely gets discussed). It IS a sin how poor some people are, and then how rich others are, in a country that's supposedly about...
That is true, people are like that. I do think there are better ways of getting people to listen other than punishment. People do drugs because they're in pain, that's nearly always the case. They need self esteem and they need better ways to handle pain.
But still, just because children don't...
Thanks, I am feeling a little better today. Just have to take it easy, lol.
Just an FYI, for the RHLC, regarding the latest MC!
...Heh, that is, just a helpful bit of information, for the members of this here thread, in regards to the most recent Muppetcast, hehe. Kevin Clash was interviewed...
I definitely agree, no one should be made to feel guilty or belittled. It's just that our society also never wants to be told they can't do something, even if it's harmful. Not polluting would be in everyone's best interest. But a lot of people would rather just do what they feel like at that...
Well yes, it is difficult to completely avoid pollution. The point is that we make the effort not to pollute; we do the best we personally can. That shows what kind of character we have.
"We do good because it is good, not because it will go somewhere." :)
Honestly, the next time I need to buy a car, I'm going to do my best to get a Hybrid. I'm sick of so many little things we do in everyday life contributing to our planet's destruction.
Yay! I saw a mother with a little boy walking today and the kid was carrying a large Cookie Monster backpack! You might have seen it before, it's basically a Cookie Monster doll with straps in the back and a hole to put things in. It was such a touching and inspiring sight! :insatiable:
(Yay...
Good luck with all that! Job hunting is very difficult, but the main thing is to keep trying. The more you try, the more opportunities you will have. And if things don't work out in one field, it's good to approach the job hunting from another angle and try again. Again, good luck!
I really don't care what label an organization choses to put on it or not, pollution is an evil thing. I don't have to call it deadly or otherwise to think that.
As far as drinking, the Church's position has been that drinking is fine, but not the abuse of drinking. Which I think is realistic...
