Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

I used to be pretty skeptical and pessimisstic about these things. But the way I look at it, being negative just takes up too much energy. Being hopeful is a bit more risky, but ultimately more rewarding. Don't get me wrong, I'm realistic about it all. But as they say, "pessimissim does not...

    My Thoughts: Disney's Muppets

So we can guarantee the new movie will have tons of random yet elaborate human dance sequences? Hehe Jk, love GMC!

    The RHLC!

Cool dream, what detail! You could do a fan fic with that! ;) Yup, and the timing was just amazing, right when we'd gotten this good news. I was humming the "I've Got a Golden Ticket" song from Will Wodka all the way home, lol. Cool, I wish I'd decorated my cap, lol. Now that it's getting...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

"Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work. You don't give up." Gotta appreciate inspirational quotes. ;)

Glad the pups are at least starting to warm up! Lol, yeah I think we're all dying for more "accidential" Muppeteer cameos! I'm so happy! The other day my friend got something she's been waiting for a long time. It was great news and we were both thrilled. In the back of my head, I had the...

I know how you feel, but on the other hand... "I have learned that faith means trusting in advance what will make sense only in reverse." AND "Hope has to do with believing beyond today--knowing there's a garden of beauty that awaits me."

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

Yeah that surprised me too, even fans don't always know each film by name. ;) My new mantra: Excitment mixed with Caution ;)

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

Well as I said in my first post, I'll be excited, but also keep a healthy amount of caution. That's really all you can do :) It's also really not that unusual for a number of projects or pilots to be suggested but not come about. All it takes is one, but it can take a long time to get there. ;)

How true that is. ;) But it's all in good fun of course, we all have our opinions. :)

Yeah I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if Jim had a slightly love/hate relationship with Sesame Street. On the one hand, it provided him with exposure and opportunities for creativity. On the other hand, it gave the Muppets the "kiddie" label he didn't entirely want, and always took half his...

    Rene Auberjonois

Rene is an amazing actor, I loved him as Odo on Star Trek and in many other projects. Funnily enough though, the very first thing I ever saw him in was an early '90s kiddie TV movie which was a take off on "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court." The actress who played Rudy on the Cosby...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

Yes exactly what I was trying to say. And executives historically really can't predict what will work. All they can do is take a gamble. And sometimes they're right and sometimes they're wrong. And I'm not seeing the general public rejecting older entertainment, quite the opposite.

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

I don't think the Muppets need to be seen as hip and current. They just need to find a story that works. That '70s Show channeled a retro feel, and was hugely popular. Plenty of recently successful movies have taken place in times past. I'm sure there were some who said it couldn't be done. ;)

Yeah I think both parties need to prove themselves. The ball is in Disney's court here, but the Muppets pre-Disney projects weren't entirely working either. So both parties need to prove something.

Glad you had a good time, MN, that's so cool! And hope your cherry hog enjoyed the bowl of chalk down the frog and toad. ;) FraggleMuppet, yeah the more I read about it, I do think breeders are making it that much harder for shelter animals. I'm really going to try and get both. I've also...

Yeah I mean thankfully there has always been some good stuff that has also been popular at one point. And even if it loses the popularity at times, that can't take away the quality. ;) To be fair I'll have to research these guys more because I really don't know enough to comment.
