I think I know what scene you're talking about, lol. I did hear the writers of Sesame Street say once that the puppeteers pretty much stuck to the script, but then would throw in their own little touches every now and then. Forgetful Jones especially provided great opportunities for that. I...
That's an interesting point. We want TV shows and movies to be popular and accepted by a mass audiences, obviously. We want them to make people happy. But then again, there are a lot of TV shows and movies that are hugely popular, but don't necessarily deserve to be so (not referring to anything...
Hmm not sure if I can get a picture at the moment, I'll have to see. But it's the March 2008 issue and on the cover is this big red sign with the word "Free" on it. (But no, it's not free. Just a little misleading, lol).
Yeah I mean, I don't know anything about these guys, so I'm not really commenting on them. I was a little uphappy with the projects even before Disney, but it's just that Disney is the one holding the ball now and has to prove itself, heh.
Yeah if the list had been a bit longer, we would have seen even more of our favorites. Hehe, that's cute that you thought of Robin the frog, hehe. Do you collect Batman comics, or other things?
The thing is, and I think you said this, there is a difference between adult humor and sophomoric humor trying to sound adult. And the classic Muppets have been straying a little too close to the latter lately. Muppet fans do realize that they weren't just for the kids. But the risque jokes used...
Rocko was great, it had such a left field, completely out there comedic sense, yet it was a kid's show. I think I actually liked Rocko best, the way he was the "normal" one watching all the crazies. (Though, maybe it was his accent, hehe)
Filbert: If you guys are gonna stick around, you might...
A friend of mine who is a big fan thinks it's pretty much confirmed. I don't mind either way, but it's good that they're trying to fit more of the story in the films. (Note: I love Harry Potter, just not as much as Lord of the Rings. ;))
Definitely, I don't think being picky or cautious is wrong at all. Supporting Disney/Muppets doesn't have to mean I support every project ever done. :)
To be honest, when I saw that scene at the beginning of MFS, it never occured to me that the song was old. I mean, they play it all the time...
Oh good question! Yup, the Boy Wonder was one of them! Also included were:
Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings
Mr. Spock from Star Trek (only logical, hehe)
Chewbacca from Star Wars ("Ah, you said it, Chewie!" lol)
Dana Scully from X Files
Waylon Smithers from The Simpsons
K.I.T.T. the...
I think the difference is, in the old days they took pop culture and molded it in a weird way, which audiences responded to. But more recently they've sometimes allowed pop culture to mold them. And I don't think audiences have responded to that in a huge way. So more modernizing isn't the key...
What just makes me nervous is this idea that they need to update themselves to appeal to an modern audience. First of all, I don't believe it's true; in real life plenty of people (including kids) watch older movies and TV shows. Second, history often shows that when entertainment tries to be...
I understand what you mean Beau, defintely. I'm just thinking that not every young person is thinking about that stuff (and I had some problems with Juno that I won't get into here hehe).
I will try to be optimistic, but also cautious. Stay tuned. ;)
As far as "sex jokes," I'll just say there's a difference between adult humor and immature humor.
I do think Tiny Toons paved the way for Animaniacs, though I think the latter ended up being more amusing, at least to me, hehe. But in both cases, it was something fresh and different, the way the characters constantly broke the fourth wall and knew they were on TV.
I think when they try to...
Ok here is the page concerning Puppetman from Muppet Wiki:

Oh well...if you insist...I suppose I could force myself, hehe.
Well you might remember in the Richard podcast, Kevin mentioned how Richard didn't seem to want anyone to know just how much he loved the Muppets. This time around, Kevin speculated that this was because Richard cultivated this...
I agree, actually a lot of Christian churches (not just Catholic) are now becoming more concerned about taking care of the planet. Earlier it was considered by some to be not as important as human issues. But now many groups are realizing that human issues won't matter much if the planet is no...
