I agree, it's just a parody, and one that was amazingly well done, as far as voices and character set up. I wouldn't show it to children maybe, lol, but for older fans it was fun.
That being said, I wouldn't like to see that stuff in a new Muppet movie. ;)
Yeah really, it's like cutting away from the guys drinking at Cheers, lol. Either you're going to do it, or not. But to do it and then cut away is just kinda funny. :insatiable:
I always think there was probably one kid who didn't think and ended up getting bumped on the head; that's usually all it takes to start one of these things. Odd how even cartoon violence still exists to some extent, but somehow puppet violence seems to come across more real, lol.
Yeah there does seem to be some strange inconsistency there. It could have been a compromise. The character wouldn't be as funny without the head banging, but then they were still afraid of showing violence to kids.
See when I was a kid, I was terrified of those Chuck E Cheeze or walk around characters, and would have been RELEIVED to see that there were really people under those costumes, lol.
Yeah which I always thought was odd. I mean there were other sketches where they just didn't include the head banging. Either have the character do it, or not. Why do it and then cut away? Perhaps Richard didn't listen and the cutting away was a last minute editing decision, lol.
There are so many stories around about Walt, it's hard to know what's true anymore. And it is important to remember that times were different. The US wasn't really as unified as it is now (despite our current problems, we have definitely come a long way). People didn't think they were being...
Ah yes, great clips! You know what's missing from the second clip of course...he doesn't have Kermit to bounce off of.
Though he does seem decidedly more cheerful. I'm still think he ended up going to some kind of stress management therapy class, lol.
My condolences to your family! We found out today that my Great Aunt passed away. It can be so difficult, but I do think it should also be a time of celebration in a way, because they're probably in a better place. :)
Oh yeah that's one thing you should expect around here, the occasional cooky yet fun Richard dream, lol.
Here's another thing to expect:

I remember seeing this special (Muppets Go to the Movies) on Nickelodeon years ago. I had no idea who Richard was...
Welcome to the club wemblingalong! Have you read Richard's Muppet Central tribute pages? That's where I was first hooked, lol.

And yes that really is a very special clip all around. And he does have that ability to stand out...
For the record, I agree, the Sam pacifier thing was worse for me. It didn't seem like they were saying "Oh no, Sam's not himself anymore in this alternate universe!" It felt more like, "Haha, let's laugh at Sam with the Ecstasy pacifier!"
This is all just my opinion, but the Hare Krishna joke...
Ah, so many things to comment on, lol. Once again, I'm sorry for the absence as of late. For some reason lately, all I've wanted to do at the end of the day was sleep (and occasionally watch the Marx Brothers lol)!
That exhibit sounds great, I wish I could go! It would be cool to see all...
