*Sigh* It's That Time of the Decade Again...

Street is Safe :search: Oh, if PBS tanked (and let's face it, someone would bail them out in the 11th hour if it were absolutely necessary) Sesame Street would still not be in trouble. However, it wouldn't likely come to network programming except maybe in specials or reruns. It would move...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

Oh my Frog! I hope they remake Uncle Deadly and others to appear in the film. It would be nice to get some Fraggle and Sesame cameos too. That was certainly missing from MFS. And Grodin! Man, I hope this isn't still just at the wooing phase. It would be nice to know he's locked in to appearing...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

Well said. :) There is a line in humor that hits people differently. I loved the Christmas special, but some bits were clearly pandering to an edgy audience just as I feel moments of Muppets From Space were pandering to a kiddie crowd. There's a balance. ;)

Does the Muppet store in New York still exist?

This link for Muppet Stuff explains the history. It was a great little store where you could find everything from wind-up marching Doozers to Ludo plushes, Pigs in Space stationery to Muppet Babies puffy stickers. Anything and everything a Muppet fan could want at the time was there. It was a...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

This is kinda what I think happens... :shifty: There's this misconception among different types of fans that puppets and the Muppets should keep kids in mind *first* when considering content. This causes an over-sanitization that Jim Henson didn't incorporate into the Muppet Show gang. Even...

    2009 Fraggle calendar

:excited: Okay, the front cover scared me for a minute, but the rest looks good. I know we've seen much of this before and I don't have the current calendar, but they are nice glossy photographs of the Fraggle world. And hey, the book comes out this year so they have to save something special. I...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

One Frogboy's Observation (but not a judgement) Why is it that the cage dancing Scooter upsets people more than the rave Sam sporting a pacifier (a known mark of drug use with Ecstasy)? I mean it's all very subtle, but it is an alternative universe. And the artifacts of the cage and pacifier...

Your thoughtss on Disney owning The Muppets

That's somewhat true in part, but as a whole the Muppets are in the minds of people here in the US. Heck, Virgin Megastore plays the Muppet Show DVDs on all of the big screens the last two season launches (and one of these came out opposite a Simpson's season set). The issue is that there...

    Muppet Kubrick Collection

Potato vs Potatoe Kubricks, Palz, Minimates...it really is a brand thing. There's nothing wrong with the original Kubricks, but if they were to make a more extensive line of these with a different or off-brand I'd consider them. It really is a quality thing too and I don't see the Mates any...

A Year Away From The Power of the Dark Crystal?

The last word on it is that Henson was going ahead with it even without a confirmed theatrical distribution deal (just yet). That gave fans fears of a straight-to-DVD treatment that just wouldn't do. It appears that's not what Henson wants either. Hey, if they could get a theatrical deal for...

    2008 Menu Descriptions

:insatiable: Muppet Central Mother's Day Menu! :super: Fade In: on a kitchen with pink checkerboard tiles, pink drapes, heart patterned trim and a pale green countertop. There’s an oval picture frame with “Happy Mother’s Day” pink animated stitching that is soon to be replaced with the Muppet...

*Sigh* It's That Time of the Decade Again...

Sesame is solid. :wisdom: I always think it's funny how they cite Sesame Street as the project that would receive the axe. Actually Sesame Street is propping up PBS. They could go to any number of cable stations they wanted and run repeats on PBS. That always appears to be an option on the...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

Actually Kermit's doubt harkens back to the first Muppet Movie. He is the very definition of a reluctant hero. The issue with the Christmas special is that there was little joy to counter balance the more somber moments. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the special very much, but it went from...

Speed Racer the Movie, Your Thoughts

 I agree that effects don't make a film. Here is appears the Wachowski brothers (I like the first Matrix and V for Vendetta) have created a unique world here meant to honor Speed Racer's animated roots while attempting something visually new. I haven't seen it so it is anyone's guess if...

    Muppet Kubrick Collection

You kind of have to hunt them down. :attitude: The Muppets complete series of Kubricks contain Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Sam and a very rare chase Beaker. These are all blind-boxed assortments. There's also a Supreme Kermit (a skateboard brand) that wears a t-shirt. :wisdom: The...

    Your Thoughts: Muppets From Space

3 out of 10. I really have problems with the film (not even counting the studios treatment of Jerry Juhl, a scrapped more sophisticated outcome) and they never really went to space - hence the mid production title change. The Muppets seem to not have their fleece and fur hearts in this one. I do...

If Jim hadn't died in 1990

Not much was really kept afloat after Jim died. Efforts were less consistent. I really do feel the Muppets have been coasting for over decade and a half. If Jim hadn't died - Disney would have kept the Muppet brand strong to please him and allowed him to branch out into other media. The...

A new web site for Terry Angus, Angus Puppets

Great stuff (as always), it loads quickly, comprehensive and easy to navigate. I have bookmarked it and will definitely be checking back. By the way, the three wonderful Master Replicas Muppet posers are watching me while I type this! Took me a while to be able to sleep in the same room with...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

Rumor, what rumor? What's this about 2012? I doubt any such non-animated film would be announced by Disney with such a late release date. That's four years away. Disney would sooner shelve the project than tag that late a launch. My guess is that they'll be shooting it about a...

Speed Racer the Movie, Your Thoughts

I'm seein' it! Personally I think the movie improves upon the cartoon show, but I was never a fan. The lower frame-rate look and dubbing turned me off as a kid. Chuck Jones, Tex Avery and Disney's nine old men were more my "speed" and still are for the most part. The fact that Speed Racer still...
