    Traditional Animation: The Return

Nope. Unfortunately it will feature "orignial work by Randy Newman" instead of hiring Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King and of course Little Mermaid veteran - Alan Menken. His work on Enchanted was so inpsired I don't understand this Newman turn here. I know Randy's got a lot of fans...

    Traditional Animation: The Return

I'm excited! Here's a look at a production photo, the film logo, and some early conceptual art that's been bouncing about the web. :flirt: Yes, this will be the first black princess for a Disney animated film. The film is described as, "A female twist on the traditional Frog Prince tale...

Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog vs. Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse

On another note - does anyone feel conflicted over the costumed Muppets? I kind of do. I mean, I like them, but prefer what they are doing with the Muppet Mobile Lab. Having both co-exist seems a little weird to me, but I'm sure that's just my being picky. ;)

*Sigh* It's That Time of the Decade Again...

Sesame Workshop discovered that kids were picking up the differences in production values between current programming and stuff mid-80s and before. Many kids don't care, but in this culture they are taught to "upgrade" and that new is better. Ugh, of course. I'm with you on the old vs new...

*Sigh* It's That Time of the Decade Again...

Oh some of what you've mentioned is making me cringe and I haven't even seen most of it! I still like the idea of the current Sesame Street to have a "classic corner" segment of retro material - if only to celebrate their 40th season next year. I still have hopes for Sid the Science Kid...

Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog vs. Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse

I have heard that too and have felt conflicted about it. Anti-Semitism, as all prejudice, is disgusting. :search: There are a couple little Wiki facts I searched through and found them to be interesting. Walt Disney and Jim Henson were born 35 years apart. Henson spent his early childhood in...

*Sigh* It's That Time of the Decade Again...

Old and New :search: The Sesame Old School releases (cheesy warning label aside) are a fantastic and respectful effort to honor great work of Sesame seasons past. If not for those episodes Elmo and Abby wouldn't exist. :super: However, kids are sharp and can tell the difference between old...

    Muppet Kubrick Collection

From what I have seen there are seven series of seven Disney figures. There are also a few chase "secret figures" thrown in the mix, one per series I think. The properties cover the classic animated films from Peter Pan to Beauty and the Beast, black and white Mickey Mouse classic characters...

This is how out of touch the company is...

I also think, maybe not in this case, that some companies view these low resolution YouTube unauthorized distributions as free promotional tools. They keep these properties fresh and in the public arena long after they've sunken from the mainstream view. There is more than one way to think about...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

If by chance Oz decides not to be directly involved I hope he still puts in some time creatively overseeing the film as a producer. He know his stuff. :o No hard feelings here either uppity. I was just bewildered about the idea anyone could be upset about Frank Oz in any way. It would be...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

Out of proportion :halo: I wonder how much Oz got from the Disney sale or if he’s still an investor? If Muppeteers primarily wanted money they'd find another craft. Most of them have other jobs to fill in the gaps. Green is important and it is the grease of the industry, but that is not a...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

Wha... :halo: Frank has provided the occasional Sesame character performance when he drops by the Sesame Street set for a day or two to film a succession of segments, but that's pretty much it. I didn't say he completely left. For some reason your comments on this topic are becoming...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

(Somewhat) briefly about Frank... I have nothing but admiration for Frank Oz as a Muppeteer and a filmmaker. :halo: He left the Muppets to pursue other things, such as being a darn good director, and I find that fantastic. He was working with the Henson and the Muppets since his teenage...

ATTN SF Bay Area folks: Dead Hensons show this Saturday (5/10)

Right in my city, but not sure if I can make it. That section of south of Market is far from my hub of comfort; especially late at night. I'm thinking about it, but I'll probably just save up all my concert energy for Cyndi Lauper when she comes to Berkley for her True Colors tour.:concern:

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

That would be perfect. Also a phone conversation with Fozzie where they both sound alike could be quite humorous - "Oh, I'm the one with the fur. I keep getting us mixed up!" Nah, the limo driver is the more inspired choice. :o

*Sigh* It's That Time of the Decade Again...

Has anyone thought of this... :search: I know the show is split kind of in two anyway, but why doesn't Sesame Workshop go all out and just make an Elmo's World program to follow the regular Sesame Street? Here's the pitch: :wisdom: Have Elmo pretty much recede to the background as much...

Disney Enlists Segel & Stoller for new Muppets movie

:halo: I third the motion! I think they should try to keep the Muppet performances as consistent as possible. Frank Oz put in his time and if he really wants to come back and perform that would be great, but Eric Jacobson has been doing such a fine job I think it's finally time to just let go of...

This is how out of touch the company is...

:) Henson is a very small company. Remember how clunky and incongruent henson.com was until recently? They barely have the capability to handle their own website much less search YouTube for copyrighted content. That's not a criticism, but a good example of how lean the company actually is...

    Muppets.com relaunches with Disney XD

Well lame as it is, this Mupdate seems to be a nod to fans that they are waiting to format content and fiddling with stuff on the site until that day comes. I still want a better Mupdate! :shifty:
