Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I was upset at first. Sesame's Muppet characters span all cultures, but they're orange, green and purple...not white or the on-the-nose brown color of this recent puppet. I first thought that it set a bad precedent, but Sesame is nothing if not innovative. I think this is a good rare exception...
I think Sesame Workshop's licensing fee could be higher than other companies and that might be what has held back other product attempts, but that's just my wild speculation. The gold is in Elmo sales these days. He's eclipsed Big Bird and turned into Sesame's Kermit-type character status. There...
Palisades proposed line of reasonably priced figures for ages 12 and up would have flown off the shelves. There is no doubt in my mind that upscale limited edition Sesame merchandise would do big business, but many companies are too blind to the opportunities. Posers are another matter. This is...
Drew Struzan is still working on movie posters these days so there's a chance. Not a very likely one, but it's out there. Both Disney produced Muppet films MTI and MCC got the Struzan Treatment. We'll see. I hope so.
I still think Disney could cash in on the "burn-on-demand" DVD trend. There's no overhead, residual rights can be assigned a percentage of units sold and they don't have to design interactive menus or worry about unsold units going on clearance.
All they need to do is set up a section listig...
I think the poser Muppets look okay except for Piggy and I don't understand why they don't try to give the Kermit poser a "nuckle" bump to give his head some shape.
Personally, I don't think they should use posers or puppet images. I'd like to see Drew Struzan painting like he did for TMM...
Hercules is worth a glance just for the music and graphic style alone. Tarzan had a great opening act and then fizzled from there, but I liked it okay. Atlantis was the most boring Disney animated film I've ever seen. I didn't understand its appeal. I guess the only one I didn't see was Brother...
It's too much worek to stick a DVD in the case's CD slot? M'kay.
At 10 bucks I think it's worth it for the widescreen. More Muppety goodness in the corners and room for the frame to breathe.
TP is an enjoyable film. There are many things they should have done differently, but I liked it better than Hunchback or dare I say...Aladdin. For some reason the classic tale spoke to me and is actually much more reverent to the source material even if they did include robots. A live action...
I can agree with you on Pocahontas. It was historically inaccurate and the story wasn't as strong as other Disney films. I wasn't impressed with the villain either, but it did have some fun supporting animals as usual. I always love those bits. And yeah, it is pretty to look at.
However, I...
This is what you do. Buy the new DVD set, scrap the strange CD inside and replace it with the old version thathas the Pepe special feature! all in one:)
Disc 2 is a DUD!
Disc 2 is just some dude singing Christmas carols. What the frog? I haveb't watched the rest yet. So, disc 2 is a dud, but we are getting the whole film in widescreen so that makes this frogboy happy! :)
