Muppet Canon in my opinion...
(this won't work for everybody)
The closest projects to Muppet Canon are:
The Muppet Show, The Muppet Movie, Muppets Tonight and The Henson Hour.
The Muppet Characters Canon is:
The Muppet gang (of various ages and backgrounds) led by Kermit, met up one by...
Seeing that a new Muppet Show would follow the Muppet movie...these are my somewhat ordered choices.
1. New Muppet Movie
2. Muppet Show Seasons 4&5
3. New Muppet photos & 2012 calendar (with an improved likeness Miss Piggy)
4. Small figural and plush Muppets (maybe talking ones) with good...
The original pitch of this film was to make it look less like a CG project and more like a moving oil painting. This style is a reaction to those behind it disliking the fairytale visuals of Shrek while wanting to create some sort of farce on fairytales. I don't think they completely achieved...
I agree with you about the Babies, but always get flamed for it. When I talk about the Muppets to anyone 25 or younger they think of the Babies first and some start humming the themesong. It makes me sad. The animation and character performances don't have the grace and nuance of the Muppet...
There are extremes in both camps. My post a while back cited a particular "ultra" extreme in the conservative camp, but not the party as a whole. If the Muppets taught me anything it's that we're all mixed-bags and even with our differences we can get along without the need for sweeping blanket...
They basically take the comic book and give it tiny bits of animation and sound. It's not much. More like a limited FlashToon with static cutouts moving into frame and animated mouths, but with the great stories from Langridge, the beautiful artwork and the Muppeteer voicework! I think it's great!
This is great! More properties are turning to this low-cost Amazon-based format and it's good to see that Disney's onboard with the Muppets brand. Sure, there are going to be some strange anomalies from time to time (that's an inherent bug of the programming) but it's better to include more...
Who else did the palm-in-the-face slap that I did when the ceramic frog told the mushroom he looked like a "Fun-Gi"? This is such digital vomit! :grouchy:
Oooh, I have a very "little" something special coming soon. It won't me on MC. Unofficial, of course, but it's as far as I'd probably go down the Muppet illustration road. I'll keep you posted.
I've always enjoyed your style and work. Any artist that includes drawing finger-puppets on drawn...
These are quality made with good materials, but the likenesses are substandard.
I almost carried these in the shop, but nixed the idea. It appears Henson licenses their brands to pricier companies instead of more mainstream companies that can actually do something a little more...
I second that. I'm probably not suited for comic book illustration, but I know many people in these parts who are and could give some of Boom's fine artists a run for their Muppets! I think Boom has done a great job so far, but it's time to mix it up with some new blood, but under Langridge's...
They managed to hire fine voice talent and a star to lend his music, but everything else bites.
Some people say the theatrical film medium is dead and some claim that traditional animation is dead, but what is for certain is that no gimmicky medium can withstand such paint-by-numbers cynical...
I don't think that was the intention. Next time you're in SF swing by the shop on Waverly and we have all three on display. (I work there every Sunday and Monday.) They look better than you think they would. MR tried to get them as close as possible but they bit off more than they could chew...
Wow! That's a really impressive, all-new sculpt! They allowed Kermit his "sheesh" face and Piggy's proportions are closer than in most representations. Disney is definitey stepping up its game with the Muppets! I'll get this one. :)
I am so glad somebody else "gets it" concerning the Feebles. There are a lot of issues and it's not the type of film I'd ever want to make, but it shouldn't be so easily dismissed.
It actually demonstrates Peter Jackson's love of the Muppets and of puppetry in a controversial way. He doesn't...
I was going to give this it's own thread but...
it doesn't deserve one. This has to be one of the worst cliche-riddled animted films I've seen advertised. Gnomeo & Juliet from Miramax. I'm sure Disney would want to dump the company for this film alone! Yucka! :grouchy:
