Anyone Find The Muppets More Funny Now?

Respectfully disagree, but you guys already knew that, lol. I've already had my laugh out loud Muppet movies and none of them were called MMW. ;)

Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

As far as the Henson company, I agree. They do celebrate the past and also try new projects. As far as the treatment of the Muppet characters, it hasn't felt as balanced. And it hasn't worked. The last time it really worked was MCC because it's a sweet holiday movie.

Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

No one has ever suggested throwing out the franchise. It's bizarre to me that you would even think that. Parents showing their kids Muppet Show clips ARE keeping the franchise alive and breathing. Actually Tiny Toones had the exactly right idea. Instead of awkward reboot after awkward reboot...

Muppets Most Wanted Box Office Numbers

Well fans have indeed been complaining "the magic is gone" for 20 years. It's just more obvious now because TM2011 was given so much hype as the big comeback. I get the impression when the general audience thinks of Muppets, they think of Jim Henson. That's not a problem that needs to be fixed...

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

I do recall that was the first moment in the theater where my face literally switched to frown. Even I was surprised at how much my entire being turned on this film in that moment. It was a long 2 hours after that, lol.

The Great Muppet Caper VS. Muppets Most Wanted

Heh...you sure you want to ask me this? ;) Out of the original three, I tend to place GMC at #3. But comparing it to MMW? There is no contest. I'm happy to crown GMC #1. :) First of all the concept of being bored by Jim Henson's work is just foreign to me. You might as well be speaking a...

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

You know you guys might be on to something talking about Kermit and Piggy's relationship. I agree with the recent TP review that the marketing for this film missed the mark as far as focus. The Kermit's evil double plotline just isn't that compelling a draw. Especially if you're trying to...

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

I got that it was meant to be ironic. But like I said earlier, it felt like the joke was ON the Muppets in this film. We were being asked to laugh AT them, not WITH them. That's not why I go to see a Muppet movie. The writers had a very shallow understanding of the Muppets. And even if they...

    Most evil Muppet movie villain?

I used to think Doc Hopper might be the most evil, but at least he was genuinely hurt when Max rejected him. He didn't want to admit being so obsessed with a dream had its drawbacks. He had some nuance. I'm going to have to go with Constantine as the most evil for me. Yea he's funny at times...

    R.I.P. Mickey Rooney (1920-2014)

I remember loving his movie Girl Crazy (with Judy Garland) when I was a kid. Fun musical comedy and Mickey was so adorable in his prime, hehe. Plus Boys Town, he is amazing in that film, always made me cry, very inspirational. I highly recommend both. I'll see if I can find a clip later. Thanks...

Yeah that's what it comes down to for a lot of movies. Whether there's that certain personal something that makes any faults forgivable, you know?

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

I do remember. And like I said earlier, it didn't feel like we were laughing with the Muppets, but rather laughing at them. And I just couldn't get into that. It did not play that way to me for most of the film. It felt like they were back tracking at the end to make up for how ridiculous...

Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles: RIP TMNT 1985-2014

The whole "dark and gritty" thing is just a bunch of buzzwords PR people always use to justify a reboot or remake's existence. Plus there's always some fans that mistake dark with deep and think a movie like this will allow them to feel less embarrassed about liking talking turtles. I almost...

Did Anyone Get Constantine Spoofing Annoying Cliches?

MMW was fan service in a sort of fan fictiony way. I felt the same about TM2011. That doesn't mean I thought the plot or characters were entirely on the right track. Again, with the shining exception of the Kermit scenes in MMW. :)

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

They didn't remake or do a sequel of Casablanca either, yet people still talk about it. Like I said awhile back, Looney Tunes was more on the mark creating all new characters with the spirit of the old, rather than constantly making awkward recreations of the old.

Your Thoughts: "Muppets Most Wanted" Theatrical Film

Here's the best way I can describe it. There's that episode of Muppet Show where the pigs take over everything and Piggy knows very well that that badly disguised "Kermit the Pig" isn't the real deal. But she goes along with it anyway because she's promised a starring role in the opening number...
