Believe me, for the rest of the film I agree with you, lol. And even the Kermit scenes succeeded despite everything for me. Maybe because I could identify with Kermit's glumness while watching the film, heh.
Here's the thing, the Constantine storyline had a lot of potential that the writers just seemed to miss completely. I was really moved by Kermit in the gulag feeling depressed that his friends had abandoned him, or worse, didn't even realize he was gone. There was plenty of opportunity to play...
I also get the impression people are generally hostile to celebrity cameos these days. Sure the cameos back in the '70s and '80s Muppet movies managed to be pretty unobtrusive, but in recent years I think audiences have really turned on the whole idea because celebrities tend to dominate...
He is correct. Unless your DVD player breaks down, buying a Blu Ray just because the companies are trying to force you into it does feel rather wasteful.
Well speaking just for myself, I've never mailed an outgoing letter using my home mailbox. I've always used a public one.
And having Linus go to the post office would take too much time away from the story and provide less of an obvious opportunity for a sight gag with the blanket.
Yeah I mean technically TM was going for an emotional reaction whereas MMW was more a harmless adventure. Much like GMC didn't really have the same poignancy as TMM.
However that does not mean I am in any way comparing MMW to GMC, lol. :p
There was a lot I didn't "get" from the Muppet films as a kid. Luckily it's a lot easier nowadays to look things up. Being not of the time is no longer an excuse, hehe.
For the record, I never got the impression the creators who said that stuff are trying to insult the Muppets. I'm sure they've genuinely enjoyed the Muppets before. But laughing at something and knowing why it's funny are two very different things.
Agreed, even the casual fans I speak to immediately mention that. The reason the Muppets started doing films in the first place is because they had such a huge following on Television.
Wow again...

Uh, heh heh...ya know I'm sure the guy's heart is in the right place....He does say he's bad at selling things. But again...seriously?
Looking at his credits for the first time, yeah this guy has some serious street cred with the Muppets. But I suppose he's more a Henson Co. guy at this point than a Disney one?
In any case looking at Stoller and Bobin's credits, I'm not exactly sure what stood out to the studio execs as...
My God, I just read this now. Seriously? That was painful....and explains a lot...These were the guys they chose to write for the Muppets? Wow...
And goodness knows Scooter wasn't around to do it himself oh wait....Lol
Walter was great in this movie. It's just that we've been waiting for the original Muppets to get the spotlight back for so long and in MMW it mostly felt like I was watching a group photo rather than getting to know the characters again.
