I wish they'd just bit the bullet and release Chipmunks go to the movies in one 2 disk set. Having to buy up 4 or more 3 episode disks is terrible.
Again, there's the legal issues with all those songs and stuff.

Well wait a minute, I don't know, "Bigger!" was released on DVD, and The Chipmunks are still singing "I Love Rock and Roll"...

But yeah.

Why can't they just release season sets?
Again, Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman are faced with legal issues with the songs that The Chipmunks and The Chipettes have covered in most of the episodes (incidentally, I heard the original version of "Walk Like an Egyptian" the other day for the first time), I'm not exactly sure why whether there's some kind of royalty fee, or if the songwriters/singers HAVE to have a piece of the profit or what, I mean, notice how the Valentine's DVD replaced their cover of "Love Potion No. 9" with a poorly dubbed version of "Witch Doctor" on the episode "Theodore and Juliet". This legal issue with the songs is the only thing that's preventing them from releasing the show OFFICIALLY on season sets.

I say "officially", because I know there ARE bootleg copies of a "complete series" set on the internet, a friend of mine bought one of them. And it ain't complete. It has mostly the Ruby-Spears episodes (Seasons One through Five), and a few of the DiC episodes from Season Six (that were actually syndicated), and apparently two episodes are actually repeated on this set, so it's hardly complete.

Yeah, I do see what you mean with the music rights and everything.

Meanwhile, rumors keep resurfacing about a complete series set of The Alvin Show being released.

That would be nice, but I simply must, must, must have Alvin and The Chipmunks on DVD.

Another episode that Warner Brothers removed has resurfaced on YouTube, but you can tell it was previously downloaded off YouTube in the first place, because the quality is very poor, and somewhat pixely.
