I kinda like the Chipettes. I loved the movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman." Pretty entertaining, and I loved Maurice LaMarche's performance as Mr. Talbot. And I thought the "Clyde C. Crashcup Elementary School" was amusing. But what puzzled me was how for some reason, Simon's glasses frames were BLACK instead of blue! Maybe it was a throwback to the Alvin Show, when he had those "stereotypical cartoon horn-rimmed glasses that Hanna-Barbera and Jay Ward characters always wear."
But to me, my favorite Chipmunks cartoon will always be the Alvin Show. The animation was pretty good for limited animation, and the dialogue and stories were always witty. I also liked how they used the classic Rocky & Bullwinkle sound effects as well, to give it a Jay Ward sort of feel. Here's an entertaining clip from that program!

I've also wondered what it'd be like the Chipmunks and Dave appeared as Jim Henson Muppets? I think Kevin Clash would make a good Alvin, and maybe Jerry Nelson as Simon (and later Matt Vogel) and Camille Bonora as Theodore and Marty Robinson as David Seville.
