Which means that Disney better be on the ball with The Muppets and put more stuff out for them in order for more future generations to know who they are so they can stay, because if the newer generations don't know about a character, then they generally couldn't give two flips about a character's impact or importantance on previous generations.

But in this instance, the 'Munks were--despite the use of realistic CGI animals--based on the original Chipmunks of the 60's, moreso than they were based on their 80's incarnation.

But the 80s version was a more fleshed out version of the 60s incarnation... at least it was suppsed to be.

Well, the 80's version did flesh out some things, but it also made the 'Munks more...tame than they were in the previous years. Sort of like how Mickey Mouse has changed over the years.
