Chapter 8
It was the night of the big swamp party. Rowlf, Kermit, and Maggie were getting ready. Kermit was tuning his banjo, Rowlf was tuning his piano, and Maggie was tuning her voice.
"Do re mi fa so la ti do."
Kermit snickered. "Nice singing."
"Thanks Mit!" She thought for a moment. "Wait, are you being sarcastic?"
[Sarcasticly] "No, of course not." Kermit snickered.
"Mit!"
"I'm sorry Mags. You sound fine. Now, Rowlf, are you ready?"
Rowlf gulped. "As ready as I'll ever be."
"Hey, are you OK?" Maggie asked.
"I'm just a little nervous."
"Why?"
"Well, don't you guys think it's a little weird that a dog is playing the piano? What if nobody likes me, or my playing?"
Kermit and Maggie looked at each other.
"Think about it Rowlf. I'm a frog that plays the banjo, and she's a frog that sings. They'll love you and your playing! Trust me."
Rowlf smiled. "Thanks Kermit. You know, you're a great friend."
Kermit smiled back. "Thanks. Your a great friend too."
Maggie tapped her foot. "Hey! What about me?"
Rowlf looked at Maggie. "You're a great friend too Mags."
Maggie smiled triumphantly. "See Mit? He likes me more!"
Kermit shook his head. "Whatever."
A frog with a tremendous speaking voice came in front of the three and began the introduction.
"Welcome everybody, to the swamp party!"
Everybody cheered.
"Now, I am sure that you guys have heard of three dog night. Well, here's our answer to them. Here they are, the two frogs and one dog night! Take it away!"
Rowlf, Kermit and Maggie began to sing the song, "Jump, Shout, Boogie", but they changed some of the words.
"Well, not to long ago in nineteen forty four,
when every mother's son was going off to war,
they had to lift their spirits high.
For uncle Sam, motherhood, and apple pie.
Instead of spending money that they didn't have,
in hotspots in the bronx.
They went to hear that kind of jazz,
in those funky honky tonks.
It makes you want to jump,
[Frogs]: JUMP!
shout,
[Frogs]: SHOUT!
knock yourselves out.
[Frogs] [knock each other out]
A froggy woggy beat is what I'm talking about.
They got the heeby geebies they could dance away,
to the froggy woggy beat of the piano dog aplayin,
they could jump,
[Frogs]: Jump!
shout,
[Frogs]: Shout!
knock yourselves out.
Froggy woggy beat is what I'm talking about.
You could do a switcharoony if you felt yourself down,
to the froggy woggy beat of the piano dog agoin to town!"
Clover was dancing with Goggles, but Goggles wasn't really getting into it. Croaker was staring at Maggie admiringly, and Blotch was breakdancing.
Rover and Spot were squaredancing with each other.
Rowlf took a piano solo, and everybody cheered for him. After the chorus again, the music stopped and everybody shouted.
"YEAH!!"
Rowlf was beaming when everybody cheered for them. But he didn't hear them, for he was thinking to himself.
"Well, I've decided. This is what I am going to do with the rest of my life."
The rest of the evening just got better and better.
