Chapter 5

At the farm, the animals had a emergency meeting in the barn. There was chickens, pigs, ducks, cows, horses, and the dogs. A very portly pig with a bandanna around his neck called the meeting to order.
"Now then, I have called this meeting because of a crime two humans caused last night. One of Biscuit's pups has been stolen."
A loud gasp was heard from the animals. They started to whisper among themselves. A duck began to speak.
"Why would somebody do such a thing?"
"We don't know, but a more important question, how do we solve this problem?"
The animals talked amongst themselves, trying to figure out a solution.
"We could go after them."
"You fool! That will never work."
"We could go on a hunger strike!"
"Preposterous!"
"Let's tell the master!"
"He can't speak cow!"
Biscuit, with tears in her eyes, stood up and proclaimed,
"Please, somebody do something! I want my puppy back!"
Patch tried to console her by putting his arm around her.
"It's going to be all right. He's a smart kid."
"But.....he's just a puppy."
The puppies were quiet during the whole ordeal, until Clover had enough. She signaled for Rover and Spot to follow her outside.
"Guys, we have to do something!" said Clover
Spot retaliated. "What can we do? We're just puppies!"
"Yeah, and besides, we have no idea where Rowlf could be!" added Rover.
Clover, with courage in her heart, didn't care. "It doesn't matter. He saved our lives, and it is our turn to do the same for him. Now, are you with me or not?"
Rover and Spot looked at each other, shrug their shoulders, and agreed.
"Let's go find Rowlf!"
And so, the three puppies went past the farmer's house, past the mailbox, and down the dirt road.

Chapter 6

Back at the swamp, Kermit, sitting on a log opposite of Maggie, was strumming his banjo, and singing a song that his mom sang to all his brothers and sisters, including himself.
"Halfway down the stairs is a stair where I sit. There isn't any other stair quite like it."
Maggie began to sing.
"I'm not at the bottom. I'm not at the top. So this is the stair where I always stop."
Rowlf walked by, listening to the song. He saw the banjo sitting on Kermit's lap.
"Hey Kermit. What's that?"
"Oh, this is my banjo. Mr. Wilson bought it for me on my birthday last year."
"Who's Mr. Wilson?"
"He's a really nice man. He helped me get back to the swamp once."
Maggie muttered.
"That's because you foolishly got Googles in trouble."
"What was that Mags?"
"Nothing, nothing."
Rowlf interrupted.
"Well, I have a piano. Maybe we could play together."
Kermit smiled. "Gee, that be great."
"But.....I don't have my piano here."
Just then, Blotch the bullfrog was carrying Rowlf's bed box and toy piano on his back, and put them next to Rowlf.
"Gee.....thanks."
"No problem." Blotch walked away.
Rowlf inspected the piano. It didn't have any scratches or damage that he could see. He sat down on the ground and began to play a song that the farmer would sing when he milked the cows.
"Lydia oh Lydia,
say have you met Lydia?
Lydia the tattooed lady.
She has eyes that folks adore so,
and a torso even more so."
Kermit began to strum on his banjo and sang along.
"Lydia, oh Lydia, the encyclypedia,
oh Lydia, the queen of tattoo.
On her back is the battle of waterloo,
beside it, the wreck of the hesperous too."
Maggie took the next lines.
"And on top proudly waves the red white and blue.
You can learn alot from Lydia."
All three sang together.
"La da da. La da dum. Do do do. Dum dee dum."
All the creatures stopped what they were doing to listen to the frogs and dog sing the song. When they were finished, the swamp creatures cheered.
Rowlf smiled.
"Oh shucks.....we were just playing around."
Kermit and Maggie's mother came up to them.
"You three are very talented. Say, why don't you children play for the big swamp party next week?"
In the back of Rowlf's mind, he knew that he had to get back to the farm. On the other hand, it was only a week. After the party, he would pack his things and go. But right now, it was lunch time, and he was really hungry.
"That sounds good, uh....mom....but can we get something to eat?"
"Of course you can. I have cattepillar soup waiting for you.
Rowlf gulped. He didn't like the sound of that.
At the dinner table, Rowlf tried the soup.
"Hmmm.....not bad. Not bad at all."

"That's because you foolishly got Googles in trouble."
"What was that Mags?"

Chapter 7

Meanwhile, on the dirt road, the three puppies were still searching, asking anybody they could find, including badgers, owls, and even a moose.
"So, you haven't seen him then?" Asked Clover.
"Nope.....sorry miss....I haven't seen.....him."
Dejected, the puppies walked away.
"That was the worst John Wayne impersonation I have ever heard." whispered Spot.
"Maybe we should go back home." suggested Rover.
Clover sighed. "Maybe you're right. Which way home?"
"That's easy!" Spot and Rover said. "That way!" But they pointed in different directions.
Clover slapped her forehead. "Oh no."
So, the puppies kept on searching, and going down the dirt road, until they got to a giant swamp.
"Let's ask the locals here. Maybe they've seen him." suggested Clover.
Just then, Croaker, Goggles, and Blotch popped out of the marsh grass, looking for something.
"Are you sure you put it here Goggles?" asked Croaker.
"I am certain! Have I ever been wrong before?"
"Well...." Blotch counted on his fingers.
The puppies went up to the three amphibians, and Clover was going to ask them about Rowlf. But she was overcome with emotion when she saw Goggles.
"Well, hello there cutie."
Goggles looked around, wondering if she was talking to him.
"Huh? What?"
Spot stepped forward.
"We were wondering if you guys seen our brother. He's about so high, floppy ears, and a big black nose. Oh, and he has brown fur."
Croaker's eyes widened. "Wait a minute, is your brother named Rowlf?"
"Yes! Yes it is!" exclaimed Rover.
"Well, he's here. We could take you to him."
"That would be great!" exclaimed Clover. She went up to Goggles.
"Lead the way, big boy."
"Your invading my personal space." said Goggles nervously.
The six entered the swamp, and into a big opening, filled with frogs, leaping and hopping, not to mention croaking. Then, they spotted Rowlf, sitting in the middle, with Kermit and Maggie by his side, playing the piano. And Kermit playing the banjo, and Maggie singing.
"You shake my nerves, and you rattle my brain.
Too much love drives a frog insane.
You broke my will,
but what a thrill.
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!"
"ROWLF!"
The music stopped. Rowlf looked in the direction where he heard his name. He saw his brothers and sister, and was overcome with happiness.
"GUYS!"
He got up from the piano, ran over to them, and hugged them all at once.
"Clover, Spot, Rover! How did you find me?"
"By luck." responded Rover.
"Not to mention a moose with a bad John Wayne impersonation. Wait, he didn't help.....nevermind."
"It was the help of those two frogs, and that cute toad." She pointed over to Croaker, Blotch, and Goggles. Goggles blushed.
"Well, how did you get here?" Rowlf asked.
"It's a long story." responded Rover.
"I have time."
So, the three puppies told Rowlf of the useless farm meeting, the walking down the dirt road, the creatures they asked, and finally, getting there. Before they were finished, over 3000 frogs, including Rowlf, were hanging on to their every word.
"Uh.....I feel very uncomfortable." said Spot.
"Don't worry. You'll get used to it."
"We were going to get back to the farm with you, but I'm afraid we're lost." said Rover sadly.
"Well, these guys are going to have a swamp party in a few days. Why don't you stay till that, then we can find our way home."
Clover put her arm around Goggles.
"Sounds good to me."
"Uncomfortable. Veeeeery uncomfortable." said Goggles nervously.
So, the puppies decided to stay, and were introduced to everybody in the swamp, including Kermit's and Maggie's mom. She gave all three a big hug.
"You three can call me mom as well."
The three smiled at the middle aged frog. With a voice like that, who would argue?
