There will always be memes. If you’re a politician or celebrity, if you’re in the public eye, someone will take a potshot at you.
In the last couple decades, there seems to be a general lack of respect for others in society.
The media certainly doesn’t help, pushing this narrative if these people are different than you, they’re bad. Or if these people don’t agree with you, they’re bad.
The only exception I can find right now are trans people. In a country of 330 million, only 1.4 million identify as trans. That’s still only 0.0042% of the population. If you fail to respect a trans person’s pronouns, you’ll catch grief like you can’t believe. Nobody wants to deny anyone’s humanity. But in an ever-shifting paradigm where one day you can be he, and tomorrow be they/them/it/tha,wa/aha, how can anyone keep up?
