>>>>I just don't get people praising these figures. Everyone has their opinions though and I do lile the figures, I just don't see any reason to rave about them.<<<

I hate to vehemently disagree, but to me, 24 years later, those fisher price figures are thee coolest muppet merchandise ever IMHO. The sculpts are wonderful...the Schleichs I agree, nothing special. But Jamie...are you thinking of the little people, weeblos, or somehting else? As the FP 78 line is...well I cant find the cool praise for those. I really wish they would have continued that line. as I had to wait 2 decades for new TMS figures grrrr

The schleich figures will have nothing on what Palisades is capable of and there's always a market for posed PVC figures. <<<

um, are you once again reversing positions? Just a few threads back you sounded super gung ho for the mini figure concept! what gives?

I didn't think anybody waffled on their thoughts about S3...there were some negative comments but that's ok. I say bring it on. I can take it. Besides, it makes the line better. Scooters glasses have been fixed. Lew's color has been changed. Stuff like that.

My only gripe ever has been the delivery of a comment, which only happens icily from time to time and by usually the same folks. Those I tend to pass over, but the constructive crits, even those that I don't agree with are good.

Keeps me on my toes. And it's always good to try a new position!

>>>Not that it matters but i totally think Ken and Palisades are making the right choice by doing PVC's instead of Mini's - it's totally right for them and they would be mad to compete against their own regular and Mega toy lines. I'm just kinda making an opinion on how things will be seen and how things could go. <<<

Luke! Ack, youre switchign sides. Its ok. To be honest, I wonder if some people are saying they now want pvcs since Ken said that thats the direction they would prefer?

>>>Sometimes it seems like people are jumped on here for saying anything that isn't 100% exactly what they think the Palisades rep wants to hear<<<

That is exactly the way I feel. Its fine to ohh and ahh, but blindly? I believe it is helpful to point out things you feel may need improvement...afterall, isnt Palisades striving for perfection?

Now, Ken had some great things to say. Merchandise wise, some of it wasnt all that...and there really hasnt been too many good quality/kick butt products til recently(most of which is exclusive to europe) I will not stagger on my contention that the Fisher Price 78 line to me is the coolest line ever. I think the Mattell Dark Crystal line however definately needed retooling.

Now then...PVC vs. minis. Some of you have weighed in on the
Simpsons minis. I bought the space theme one as I knew the baseball ones probably needed tape to display on a desk, and didnt seem very articulated. I'll be honest...the articulation really is nothing special or even that good on the WOS minis, I guess its just the idea of articulated pvcs thats gets me excited.
Imagining TMS ones in this vein just is so cool to me.

Im not one of those people that thinks super mcfarlane detailed TMS characters is neccesary on small figures.

Its weird...I think Luke is right...while the nostalgia and sculpt and paint detail would get praise, th enon articulation factor might not go down well.

But then there's this thing...Ken said he finallyg to a chance to check out the Simpsons minis...and if anyone should know
about detail and specs on here, its him.

Aw...so in a perfect world I would like limited articulated minis, heh. But I am also interested to see what Palisades could come up with.

What i posted to you on had nothing to do with merchandising, i just said your whining comment wasn't neccasary to the conversation. What point did it serve ? Who was it supposed to affect ? Other than being pretty rude that is. Now you post all this about god knows what ...... seems others aren't the only ones capable of having a whine.

As for what i think of Ken posting here - my opinions improved of Palisades because they've acted well and with consideration for the fans. Yes i was very wary at the start because there have been other licensee type people here in the past (posting anonymously) who've used the forum, more for their own benefit than anyone elses. I still have a few of my initial reservations about Ken posting here and one company being so intense on the forum - i think there are advantages and disadvantages to it but Ken's handled it all pretty well.

I seem to recall a great majority of people dissing the mega Beaker, and the wave 3 Scooter, Zoot, and Lew.
I also seem to remember a couple of people apologising for what they were saying, and Ken having a mild rant about the whole idea of nitpicking and how people shouldn't be worried. I just think some of this guilt has been put there by people who change their opinion whenever Ken does. There are two or three people here who ignored Corys idea before Ken said he liked it, then came over here and raved about what a great idea mini's were, and then once Ken had said they would be doing PVC's instead, go all out for the PVC cause and jumped down the throats of people who felt otherwise - and they do the same in the 'Ask Ken' thread. It just saddens me that it has got this overwhelming, almost obsessive - if the product guy can't come here without all this going on then no wonder the Muppeteers themselves never stood a chance.

I'm glad some people actually felt able to say truly what they thought, but i also know some people (one or two longstanding members particularly) who do have constructive opinions on things but don't want to face being flamed by Ken's fanclub and so avoid posting which is a shame. I like to see people responding either positvely or negatively as long as theres a point to it, but if people feel they have to be apologetic they obviously don't get the point of a product developer showing off prototypes .... they're not Ken's holiday snaps y'know !

Yeah i would think a lot of people are, but no i'm not switching sides. I am pretty much of the same thinking as you Cory - while i would like articulated mini's - i respect all that Ken has said about how hard they would be to make, and how they would be silly to make them because they would eat into the regular line sales. You'll notice how i said i think they (Palisades) are making the right choice because it's totally right for them at this time - i didn't say it was the choice i prefer, or that i think it's the right choice for the fans or the brand but i trust that Ken knows what he's doing !

You read me right. The Fisher Price puppet figures are underwhelming and I always have felt that. They were the best of what was out there for years, but no where near high-quality, just good for the time. The Fozzie and Rowf are the only good likenesses. Scooter, Animal and Gonzo are dreadful IMHO. And nothing even near the league of Palisades. If the new figures are a 10, Fisher Price would be a 5 or 6. I enjoy them very much, and they have sentimental value, but they are certainly not top shelf.

I'm not switching positions or was that directed at me. I have always thought PVCs are the way to go. Articulated would have been fine, but now that Ken says the character likeness will be better I am gung ho.

No reservations here. I'm sure others here feel the same way. Look how dead the forum was while Ken was in San Diego. I personally like Ken's and Palisade's presence in the forum. I like to be able to keep my fingers on the pulse of the Muppet Show line with the info we get from them, rather than listening to sheer speculation. To be honest, I probably wouldn't be here otherwise. And I consider myself a pretty straight shooter who says what's on his mind. Do I like Ken? Sure I do. I also really like Palisade's marketing strategy (the variants and exclusives) and series seeding of only a couple major characters each wave, forward thinking for the longevity of the line. If that makes me part of their "fan club", so be it. But I'd like to think that I have the conviction to tell them if I think Palisades is botching something.

BTW, Palisades, you're really screwing up hiring that Travis guy. If he's late one more time, give em the axe.
