Part 26...
The Count von Count came out on stage, standing in front of the theater's reddened curtains clearing his throat to make an announcement.
Count: Greetings, it is I, the Count von Count... And I love numbers. Speaking of numbers... Kermit asked me to introduce the final number. So, vithout further ado, ladies and gentlemen... The final number. Oh vait, I'm in the final number!
He scurried off before the curtains lifted to take his place at the theater's onstage lobby entrance.
Count: "Hello Pops..."
Pops, standing behind his desk, with Gaffer perched upon the corner: "Oh hello Count, you got the ticket?"
Count: "Here it is... 1 terrific ticket!"
The vampire moved past the ticket counter and encountered a familiar face behind the popcorn machine...
Usher Scooter: "Uh sir... Here are your glasses..."
Count: "Thank you Scooter, but it's not a 3-D movie."
Usher Scooter: "Oh... Would you like some popcorn or soda instead?"
Count: "No thanks... But maybe later I'll come back and count the kernels."
Marvin Suggs, Crazy Harry, and Lew Zealand were all in line, waiting to get into the theater...
Count: "Ah ha, some more Muppets for me to count."
Lew: "Do you think Mr. The Frog will let me use my boomerang fish this time?"
Crazy Harry: "I just hope it'll be a bang."
Marvin Suggs: "So long as serrsa plenty of musica."
Count: "Come on guys... Let's go in and join the fun."
The stage had a platform built underneath it for whenever sets needed to be rotated out of the way... It was used now to simulate the action of magical doors opening up onto the actual movie scene. A swampy garden backdrop was propped up against the backwall, with plenty of loglike seats near the back. The Count sat down on one of these, trying to remain out of the audience's line of sight.
Eduardo, watching in the wings or at least being told what was going on: "OK, it's time to start..."
Rainbow Connection Kermit occupied the center spot out on the stage, seated on his lonely log... With his nephew Robin resting on a smaller separate circular piece of trunk...
Kermit, holding his cherished banjo: "Hi-ho... Kermit The Frog here, and..."
Robin: "Uncle Kermit?"
Kermit: "Yes Robin?"
Robin: "Are you going to sing a song?"
Kermit: "Mmhm... Think I'll sing..."
The music started, Robin wrapped in the magic of the melody.
Kermit strumming on his banjo: "It's not that easy bein' green.
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red or yellow or gold.
Or something much more colorful like that.
It's not easy bein' green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're.
Not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water.
Or stars in the sky."
Super Grover suddenly walked out, joining the frogs, standing quietly at Kermit's left.
SG: Um froggy?"
Kermit: "Yes Grover?"
SG: "Why are you singing that song?"
Kermit: "Well, I'm trying to teach Robin about the color green... See we're frogs, and frogs are green, and we're both green."
SG: "But I'm not green... I'm not even a frog..."
Kermit: "I know..."
SG: "I'm a cute and furry loveable monster... And I'm blue."
Kermit: "You're missing the point of the song Grover. It doesn't matter what color you are or who you are... What matters is that you're you, and that you're happy being you... And sometimes, when you fell, er blue, you can realize that it's important to be who you are because you just wouldn't be yourself if you were somebody or something else... Or something like that."
SG: "Oh... I think I understand now. Mind if I just stay here for a while?"
Kermit: "Not at all."
Robin: "Uncle Kermit?"
Kermit: "Yes Robin?"
Robin, quietly so only his uncle would hear: "Is that what the song really means?"
Kermit: "Of course... Had to explain it that way to your Aunt Maggy when she threw my banjo into the swamp one time... Said I might as well say it's not easy being green... But sometimes it is."
The song proceeded, back on it's soothing yet lilting track.
Kermit: "When green is all there is to be.
It could make you wonder why.
But why wonder, why wonder?
I am green and it'll do fine.
It's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be."
Eduardo, softly: "Now, 2nd Unit."
A chorus of voices approached from the rear left side of the stage, gaining in strength as they neared... A group of five creatures, though they gathered a few friends along the way.
Wembley and Lou Fraggle: "I had seen so many faces that were strange."
Boober Fraggle: "And it sometimes seemed that each one was my enemy."
Red Fraggle: "And I said our fighting ways would never change."
Gobo Fraggle: "But I learned to meet my brother in my enemy."
Tosh Fraggle: "And I learned that we are none of us alone."
Gillis and Mokey Fraggle: "For I found a friend who's different and he/she cares for me."
Cotterpin Doozer: "And I know a place we share can be our home."
All: "We are the children of tomorrow.
Each one is different and the same.
Help us to live here with our other, our brother.
One in heart, one in hope, one in name."
Uncle Matt Fraggle: "We are the children of tomorrow.
Spoken: "Wonderful!"
Each one is different and the same.
Help us to live here with our other, our brother.
One in heart, one in hope, one in name."
Kermit: Huh?"
Robin: "It's the Fraggles!"
Kermit, turning his head to face them: "But how did you guys get here?"
Gobo, holding Red's hand: "We just used the tunnel, eh?"
Kermit: "Which..."
Red: "You know the one... The one that leads to the Fraggle hole in the theater... The one we found when we here last time."
Kermit: "Oh, yeah I remember it now."
Wembley: "Yeah... Just before we..."
Lou: "Hush Wembles dear."
Boober: "Although that silly creature seemed to be interested in that big red blanket."
Kermit: "What?"
Gobo: "He means Doc, eh. Seems he snipped a little square piece of that big cloth."
He pointed at the drawn curtains.
Emily, in the audience: "I wondered where that came from... Never visited the Muppet theater before huh?"
Doc, now seated next to her with Sprocket in the aisleway: "Well... I had to keep it a surprise Emily."
Kermit: "OK guys... Would you mind finishing your song?"
Fraggles: "Sure!"
All: "Each one is different and the same.
Help us to live here with our other, our brother.
One in heart, one in hope, one in name."
Eduardo, a little normally: "3rd Unit, it's your turn."
The Muppets gathered behind their amphibian leader, as the next song began with all the beautiful power of the emotion behind it.
Kermit: "Why are there so many songs about rainbows."
Piggy, behind him to his right: "And what's on the other side?"
Fozzie, holding Chucky fully behind the frog and pig: "Rainbows are visions, but only illusions."
The Swedish Chef, holding the Cake, next to Piggy and Fozzie: "Ünd rheinboos hove noothine tu haede."
Gonzo, in his purple suit, with Camilla, standing between Piggy and Robin: "So we've been told and some choose to believe it."
Rowlf, behind Kermit and Super Grover, and holding the Bust of Beethoven: "I know they're wrong, wait and see."
Kermit: "Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me."
Scooter, next to Gonzo: "Who said that every wish would be heard and answered."
Skeeter, in figure form, next to her twin brother: "When wished on the morning star?"
Pepe and Rizzo, in front of the frogs: "Somebody thought of that."
Bunsen, with Beaker and The Steel Rabbit meep/beeping along: "And someone believed it."
Sam the Eagle, directly behind Kermit: "And look what it's done so far."
Floyd Pepper and Janice: "What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing?"
Clifford, with Animal mouthing the words: "And what do we think we might see?"
Dr. Teeth, Lips, and Zoot: "Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me."
Patrol Bear Fozzie, Captain Link, First Mate Piggy, Dr. Strangepork, and MAMMA along the rear right: "All of us under its spell."
Super Scooter, Super Beaker, Polly Lobster, and the MTI Pirates along the rear left: "We know that it's probably magic...."
More and more Muppets figures came out of the woodworks lining up behind the main grouping.
Beauregard: "Have you been half asleep."
Uncle Deadly, holding Yorick and the Ghost behind them: "And have you heard voices?"
Dr. Phil van Neuter: "I've heard them calling my name."
Lew Zealand: "Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?"
Pops: "The voice might be one and the same."
Johnny Fiama: "I've hoid it too many times to ignore it."
The Newsman: "Is it something that I'm supposed to be?"
Crazy Harry and Marvin Suggs, with his Muppaphones: "Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection."
Jim Henson Muppet: "The lovers, the dreamers and me."
Kermit: "La, la la, La, la la la, La Laa, la la, La, La la laaaaaaa."
Super Grover had a bit of a wistful smile, sad that his friends weren't there...
Little did he know...
Eduardo: "OK... 4th Unit, time to shine."
A sort of happy melody filled the air, one of the most beautiful songs... A simple song... It filled the theater as more guests arrived.
Kermit, looking over to the rearmost right portion of the stage: "Hey, it's the gang from Sesame Street!"
Indeed, they were all there, to surprise Super Grover as the final number got better by the minute.
They all lined up along the rear rightmost logs, next to the Count, already seated there from the beginning.
Big Bird: "Sing."

Rosita and Pepe: "Canta."
All: Sing a song
Rosita and Pepe: "Canta una canción."
The Muppets then followed up with one last verse of their hallmark song, led by Kermit...
Kermit: "Why are there so many songs about rainbows?"
Fozzie: "That's part of what rainbows do."
Gonzo: "Rainbows are memories, sweet dream reminders."
Miss Piggy: "What is it you'd like to do?"
Scooter and Skeeter, and the Electric Mayhem: "All of us watching, and wishing we'd find it."
The Muppet Show: "We've noticed, you're watching too.
Someday you'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers, and you."
Kermit, leading the Muppet Show Muppets, then joined by everyone else onstage: "Life's like a movie, write your own ending.
Keep believing, keep pretending.
We've done just what we set out to do.
Thanks to the lovers... The dreamers... And you...!"
The entire cast received a standing ovation from the packed house, teary-eyed and hollering for more.
