I don't think I'll ever find a movie that will outdo Lord of the Rings. And Return of the King would have to be my favorite of the three films. I also adored Fellowship, but that was the film about which I had the most complaints regarding their deviations from the book...

The extended edition of Fellowship is much better than the theater version, but I can see why they cut what they did....I guess. What did they take out from the book? Didn't Boromir get shot thirteen times by the Uruk Hai?

They took out a ton of stuff before Rivendell - mostly before Bree - that I missed. Mostly it was stuff involving Sam, and I could understand not putting most of it in, but some of the things they changed made me mad. There were a few scenes I really would have liked to see, like Sam acquiring Bill the Pony, but it definitely would've slowed the pace too much for the theatrical version. I wish it had been in the extended though...

Not yet. I'd like to but I'm not sure I will in the theater. There are several other movies I'd rather see first, and I probably won't see them either... :stick_out_tongue:

Wow, I just discovered that yesterday was J. R. R. Tolkien's eleventy-first birthday!! Really interesting timing, for such an important anniversary to coincide so closely with the release of Return of the King...

We had one, sort of, with the three-films-at-once thing. But that didn't last too long. I'll start one!

OK. I liked it, but each to his own.

What about Love Actually? Has anyone seen that yet?
Saw it twice in the theaters, it's that good!
Totally satisfying, romantic, British film, with an outstanding cast.

The next movie I plan on seeing would have to be Teacher's Pet...

I've been waiting 2 and a half years for this movie, and the release date has been moved aroud a hundred times (they were'nt finished last year, so they released that God Awful Jungle Book 2 instead, and it was supposed to find a place labor Day weekend... but it didn't)

Finally, I can see the mixed tallents of Illustraitor Gary Baseman, and the voice actors Nathan Lane, David Ogden Stiers, Jerry Stiller, and the rest on the big Screen!!!

I liked the Doug movie, and I loved the Recess Movie, and hopefully this one I will enjoy as well!

I want to say a word regarding Cold Mountain.

Please read the book.

It's by Charles Frazier, it is, to date, the only thing he's ever written, and it's the finest piece of American fiction writing in decades. It will hold you as much or better than the movie may have.

It can be had cheap in paperback. Please read it. You will be transported.

And, anyone interested in being a truly fine fiction writer must read it.
