*With the help of some of the Muppet residents, the food's moved over to the poolhouse. Aw, that's too bad Prairie. Tell Kath we hope she gets better. Maybe if Storyteller made some, and there's enough left, we can send some good thin lentil or noodle soup her way. Along with a pack of soft sweet-salty soda crackers, I know you like those too.

Oh hi Kate. Thanks for the salad, it'll go great with the burgers. Hope you have fun at your aunt's. The Fraggles are welcome to hang out here, we could use some fine merry music makers like them to liven things up.

Bry: Hey, Ed! Hope we're not too late. Had to pick up some salmon fillets from the store to put on the grill. Big Bird, did you bring the sesame seed buns?
Big Bird: I thought Telly was getting those.
Telly: Oh no! I forgot!
Bry: No worries. I'll go back upstairs and get them.
Bert: Hey, Ernie. What kind of ice cream did we get.
Ernie: Well, I couldn't decide on what flavor and we all have such different tastes.
Bert: Yeah...?
Ernie: So I got all 31 flavors! Khekhekhe!
Bry: I wonder if Ed still has some of those special fireworks I gave him last year...

Janice, could you come here for a second?

Janice: Like, sure. What is it Maddie?

I can't decide what song would be the best to play at the Fourth of July party. I can't decide between this one and this one.

Janice: Like, I'd do that one. But why did you want my decision instead of one of the boys?

Because you were the only one not hanging on a step ladder trying to put up a banner that we're going to have to help them with.

Janice: Good point. I rully hope that we will rock the song tonight.

I'm sure we will. With the Mayhem, anything is possible. Except for hanging up a banner.

Ryan: Hey Cliff, how's the barbecue goin'?
Clifford: *watching ribs cook* Goin' good, dude.
Ryan: Great! Well I'm upstairs with Uncle D. and Camilla making some mac 'n' cheese, Gonzo's distracting Rizzo from the food.
Clifford: Cool dude. Hey, could ya ask Uncle D. to make some punch or something? Think we're a little short on drinks down here.
Ryan: I'll have Gonzo and Rizzo pick up some soda and juice boxes.
Clifford: Thanks dude! Now get back to writin', or I think you'll be the one goin' up in smoke.

Oh hey Bry... Just in time. Cliff's taking care of the grill and the grind, talk to him about those lumps of lox you brought.
Actually... Not sure whether to use those ones I got from you or the ones for our friends... Wanna have something really special since so many new people have moved in... Guess that's why I'm going with the second set that Gonzo provided. Hope that's OK.

(Piggy emerges from her room swathed form head to high heels in her dorm robe, a large straw hat, large dark sunglasses, and carrying a beach bag the approximate size of Texas. Kermit looks up. He is dressed as usual, which is to say, not at all, and it is possible that he registers some disappointment at Piggy's attire, or at least the amount of it. Fozzie is wearing swim trunks with pictures of rubber chickens on them.)
Kermit: Got the relish tray?
Fozzie: Check.
Kermit: How 'bout the baked beans?
Fozzie: Check.
Kermit: Brownies?
Fozzie: I've got brownies.
Piggy: I've got blondies.
Kermit: Okay, as soon as Catherine comes out, we're good to go.
Piggy: Why on earth does it take her that long to get into her bathing suit?
(For a moment, Kermit and Fozzie try not to look at each other or let the corners of their mouths quirk up.)
Kermit: (murmuring) Yes, pot, the kettle is black.
Piggy: What?
Kermit: Nothing. Um, maybe she's not dressed yet because she made all this food.
Fozzie: Oh, yeah.
(Catherine emerges. She is not--quite--as covered up as Piggy, but she is smiling and ready to go.)
Catherine: I'm as ready as I'm going to get! Let's hit the road!
Fozzie: To get to the other side.
(Kermit just looks at him.)
Fozzie: Sorry--reflex.
(The men hold the door and the ladies sweep past them. Out in the hall, Catherine turns to Piggy, looking at her complete coverage.)
Catherine: (dryly) Worried about sunburn? I think it's a little too late in the day to be worried.
Piggy: (smugly) Nope.
Catherine sees the look in her eye and wonders about it They arrive poolside, and after they have added their food to the table, she steps close to Piggy, her voice pitched low.)
Catherine: Piggy--why are you dressed like that? Doesn't seem your style.
(Without warning, Piggy throws off the robe and hat, and takes off the sunglasses while she shakes her blonde hair around her shoulders. Kermit's mouth falls open and he sits suddenly, staring in happy befuddlement at her spandex-clad form.)
Kermit: Wow....
Piggy: (murmuring to Catherine) Any more questions?
Catherine: Nope. *sigh* C'mon Fozzie--last one in is a rotten egg!
KERSPLASH!

*Floating peacibly in the innertube chair... Mmm, good times this July 4th. Wonder if Maddie'll do an ode to Encyclopedia and show up with frizzy rocked out red-white-and-blue hair ready to belt out a tune on the glockenspiel along with the rest of the band.
*Goes back to dreamily hoping for more fanfic from a certain aunt who will remain nameless.

Count, happily counting the friends around him and just sitting on the steps near the shallow end off to the side not blocking anyone's path who wants to get into the pool there: Mmm, this is nice. Good to just get avay from everything once in a while. Hope Gonzo got the message to get the firevorks lit around elewen tonight.

Ryan: *lounging on a raft in the pool* Hey Ed my man, Gonzo's got the fireworks set-up and ready to launch whenever you give him the go-ahead.
Uncle Deadly: *at the snack table* Yes, yes, and we do hope you like the snacks we've prepared.
