In season 31 or 32, it seems like they started to make an attempt to make Ernie and Telly a duo. There's the imaginary t party segment, and Ernie doing his A poetry, and I think another segment. And then they stopped.
I wonder what happened. Did they think the two didn't have the right chemistry? Or could it be that Telly was more of a fill-in for Bert and then Eric Jacobson became more active as Bert? I wonder if Telly should have been the one looking for Ernie in Journey to Ernie.
In the early 1980s, they filmed a lot of behind the scenes footage for a documentary that wasn't completed. Considering all we have seen so far, in addition to the fact that it seems like there is still more behind the scenes footage and interviews and stuff in addition to what's been released on DVD as bonus features (if Street Gang and 50 Years and Still Sunny are anything to go by), I feel like they might have had enough behind the scenes footage for an hour (if not just a half hour) by 1984 (and I want to say that I recently saw some behind the scenes footage for something from season 16, can't remember what or where I saw it). And of course, if it's still not enough for a run time, they could always just put completed footage as broadcast (maybe with additional voice overs).
