Kermit: (coming into the kitchen) You about done in here, Ru?
Ru: (backing out of the fridge carefully) Yeah. Yeah--I think that just about does it. (turning and beaming at him) I got everything into the fridge!
Kermit: (surprised) Even the pie?
Ru: (mumbling) Fuzematethelastuhthuhpi.
Kermit: (hands on hips) Both pieces?
Ru: Um--Piggy had the other piece.
Kermit: (grumpily) Next time you have a party, you could call me.
Ru: Sweetie, there were only two pieces. Anything else tempt you? Sweet potato casserole? Deviled egg?
Kermit: (shrugging) Hmm.
Ru: (slowly smiling) The last piece of my pumpkin-eggnog cheesecake?
Kermit: (gulping) Um, yes please?
(Ru pours a glass of milk and puts a big, fluffy piece of cheesecake down on Kermit's plate. She watches him eat and then pick up the crumbs with his little froggy fingers. When there are no more crumbs, he leans back and places both hands on his middle, sighing in contentment.)
Kermit: I am very thankful for that piece of pie--and the person who made it.
Ru: (smiling) I am very thankful that you got the last piece before I ate it.
Kermit: (laughing quietly) Seriously. What are you thankful for this year, Ru?
Ru: (looking at the tabletop) You guys. All the things that have happened this year with you guys. All the things that have happened this week with you guys. I'm...very grateful.
Kermit: (mystified, not quite understanding) Okay....
Piggy: (coming into the kitchen sleepily, wrapped in a pink silk kimono) Kermie? What are you and Ru doing up?
Ru: Destroying the evidence. And being grateful. Do you want anything, Piggy?
Piggy: (sitting down next to Kermit but not quite looking at him) No. Moi is quite content. (Kermit reaches out and takes her hand in his, twining their fingers together.
Kermit: I'm being grateful, too. For what I've got, and what I don't have to lose to recognize that I need it.
Piggy: Oh, Kermie--that is--you are very sweet. (She leans forward and kisses him on the cheek.)
Ru: (standing up and heading toward her room) I'm bushed. You two turn the lights out when you come to bed, 'kay? And happy Thanksgiving.
