And here we are, ToughPigs has announced the start of 70 Years, 70 Muppets Season 2. First up as Entry #71 is none other than the cool one himself, Clifford. This'll be fun to follow through the rest of the year.

*In  voice: Unbelievable but trues okay. Say hello to my littel friend, Entry #72, Topo Sticky okay. Ches, he's a puppet's puppet, and sticky too.

And before you say the numbering's off by one, Episode 71 of the 70 Years 70 Muppets podcast was a retrospective lookback at the official 70 entries, Episode 72 was the first of what they're calling "70 Years 70 Muppets: Season2", with Clifford and now Topo Sticky added to the group.
BTW: Looks like the new additions are posted on Sundays instead of Fridays, so I'll be posting here as each one gets revealed.

And here's a Mupdate. Entry #73 has been revealed as MuppetTelevision's resident robot or cyborg, namely Digit.

Huh, hadn't posted about Luncheon Counter Monster as #74 nor the Talking Houses as #75 because I thought noone was interested in this spinoff, I was thinking of deleting this. But if there's some real interest then I'll keep posting with next week's entry, LMK if this thread should stay.

I feel like this second season of the podcast is a little less exciting than the officially-approved first season.

The podcast went along with an actual publicity stunt from The Muppet Studios, where the character was announced and then the podcast came two days later. Now that it's just the fans deciding on characters, we don't get to know on Friday who the next is, on the Toughpigs Discord they do give a hint on the day before. I do still enjoy the podcast, but it was a bit more exciting when Muppet Studios was deciding on which character would get the spotlight.

How can you guys believe me when I tell you that Entry #76 is... Miss Mousey. I'm glad she finally had her arm fixed so she could appear in the new special a couple of weeks ago.

I'm sorry, but why was it more exciting to know the character ahead of time?

I meant to post here sooner but kept forgetting, but the Miss Mousey episode was a good one, with somebody portraying Miss Mosey like she's a real person.

The current one is Nigel (the director), that is a good one as well.

I don't really know the "why" of it. In thinking about it, I wonder if I would have felt this way if the podcasts were posted on the day the characters were announced (like the first episode).

In thinking more, the official celebration gave us a lot more than the podcast (though the podcast was one of the best things out of the celebration). Official social media sites have had several posts about the weekly character (I haven't noticed that with ToughPigs), occasional merchandise, the magnets (though you'd have to go to the theme parks to get them), occasional social media posts of the Muppets talking about the weeks character, occasional Q&A posts on social media (though it seems it was limited to the main characters), fans sending in fan art and photo dumps of the fan art on the social media sites (I have seen some fans post fan art, haven't paid a lot of attention to it).

With this second season, the character focus feels a little more like a "one and done deal" each week. Sure, fans comment about the episodes on social media and we talk about it on the ToughPigs discord, but now it's just a podcast. A very good podcast, just like many of the other ToughPigs podcasts, of course.

We do get at least one thing this season that we didn't get with the initial 70 Years 70 Muppets. With no apparent restrictions from Disney this time around, the TP discord has posted hints on the next character the day before, though I sometimes forget to check the threads until after the next episode is out (which I did with Nigel).
