    Mild ranting

Ok not even ranting so much as having a bad day & complaining to people who might understand. But that didn't fit in the title. I quoted a price to someone that would make all of you people really ashamed of me for it being so darn low. And then the people I quoted it to kinda freaked out...

    Finger Grips

Nick Barone taught the "fill the head til it's full" technique in his workshop. I've done both that & Drew's way with the finger tubes. I have no preference. they both work well. I guess the upside of Nick's way is that I've torn my finger tubes right out before. Be sure you cover your foam...

    Puppet Heap is Hiring

oh I wish I'd have seen this thread earlier. I have a friend who was a costumer at Disney. She's also an on-the-side puppeteer. this job would have been perfect. Even for just two weeks & even requiring travel to the east. (I bet she'd have done it--she'd have been a fool to not) ;) *kicks self*

    Winella?

One of my friends is a costume designer. I'll ask her.

    Winella?

Ok so I did a google search of: Winella Fabric -shoe -sneaker & the first return was http://tinyurl.com/6a245k it's cached, so it's not active.

Should I stay or should I go?

:( I hope it all works. You guys kick too much tuchus to not have it work. I actually had a dream last night that you & Jenny visited & we told you to go grocery shopping in our kitchen. We handed you a basket. You did...but it was all like leftover pizza & cream of mushroom soup--not canned...

    Dinosaur Puppet Teeth/Horns?

(You could also sew them out of felt or cotton)

    Anybody build a Beaker?

Ok so I know that he's made of shipping tubes... I think the mouth was just cut & possibly controlled by a string/elastic mech, but can't remember (BAH Humbug.)

    Anybody build a Beaker?

Oh gosh, when Dave Goelz was at the thing giving the thing (wait for it..it will come to me), he talked about how beeker worked. he also talked about how to do the voice, in that Richard Hunt didn't expel the noise, but rather did it when he was sucking air into his lungs instead. Ok so for...

    Vault of Puppets Lawsuit

I'll admit I was sad to see the company join Etsy. There's nothing etsy can do unless the copyright holder contacts them, but it looks as though their shop is empty at the moment. Happy me.

    Puppet Library

Only a stupid question if I had already done it... We actually had talked about contacting Steve Abrams a few days ago. I'll do that once I've got the books narrowed down to the genres that make little to no sense (Adventures of a Russian Puppet Theatre in Puppet Scripts/Plays, for example)...

    Puppet Library

Atlanta Center for Puppetry arts catalogs their books by title...something I dont think will work for our library. I called the Phx public Library (yes, I couldn't walk over, I had to call) and they suggested i talk to a Children's Librarian regarding it...because i'm not sure how a children's...

    Can Anybody Be Puppeteer?

Slightly (mostly) off topic, Here's an audio interview with Alan that I'm not sure everyone knows about. http://animationblock.typepad.com/editorial/2008/05/interview-with.html#more

    Puppet Library

Geeze, you want me to actually walk 100 yards to the public library? But its all the way on the other side of the park! Man...you're rough. I guess my hope was that someone was going to say "Oh yeah, such and such has a library at their theater, call them up and they have a detailed file you...

    Puppet Library

Another example of Dewey making me scratch my head is Hazelle and Her Marionettes by Mike Joly... LOC has it as PN1978.U6 J66 2005 (Marionettes & Puppet making) Dewey has it as 745.592/24 22 which is Handicrafts...I would personally probably put that book into Puppeteer Biographies.

    Puppet Library

Alright Mister Fancy Pants Dewey Supporter....;) How can I find out what dewey number each book has been assigned to? The American Public Education system has failed me; I don't know how to classify a book under the Dewey Decimal System (although I can find one! maybe.) So for example, Art of...

    Puppet Library

Hey guys, The theater where I work has had a lot of puppetry books donated to us over the years and I'm in the process of cataloging and categorizing them. (There are hundreds) I've so far gone along with the Library of Congress' system (LCCN) however I'm running across books that aren't...

    Can Anybody Be Puppeteer?

Anytime I think of mastering something, I look to Phillip Huber as an example. The man takes up to four years to build and rehearse with a puppet before he performs it for an audience. Can you imagine? It takes and incredible amount of patience to be an incredible artist. How amazing would...
