I find it hard to believe that Gordon and Alan would just stare at each other for five minutes and not look down at the chess board.
I know the story requires this to happen, but still....
I totally agree.
Getting food at any of the cafeterias in SESAME PLACE is painfully slllllooooowww...
It'll take you 30 minutes to get your food. Easily. So plan ahead if you want to reserve a spot in line.
Hi:
I think I can help, having been a New Yorker and been to SESAME PLACE three times now.
From New York to Pennsylvania (where SESAME is located) is at least 3-4 hours drive. You can easily do the drive there and back in one day. Heck, when I lived in Maryland, I drove to SESAME PLACE...
Well, Carroll Spinney once said that they "update" the Muppet puppets every 7 years or so.
Cookie Monster even has gone though at least 4 incarnations. 1969's green-blue Cookie with portruding lower lip is the most obvious variation.
She didn't appear that much - I just remember 2 skits with her:
1) One from the first season with Big Bird (you can see stills from it in the SS: Unpaved booK)
2) with Herry Monster (from 1970) where she talks about imagination
Don't know how many of you have seen this, but this looks like it was a PBS special done around 2003 or 2004, right after Fred Rogers' death, but:
I think it shows how much class the producers, creators, and performers of SS show towards their fellow educational shows. They're not rivals...
I just watched the "Making Music Together" DVD with my kids....
It's a good spin-off, and I get the idea of how they're trying to get parents to interact with their children - dancing, wiggling, making rhythms with them....Singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."
I prefer Play With Me...
Nice calling me a "dummy," abiraniriba....
Your question made it seem like you were "expecting" that tree to have grown over the years, as if it were a real plant or something.
There is a rod, or a stick, that operates the "snuffle" part (Marty Robinson describes this in the SESAME STREET UNPAVED TV special).
Also, there's a hole, or a slit, in Snuffy's back so that Muppeteers can stick their hand through and operate Elmo and Zoe "riding" on Snuffy's back. (See...
It'd be a miracle if it DID grow, since the tree is fake and is just a stage prop.
They can even move the fake tree around the set, as you might notice in scenes that require an unobstructed view of 123 Sesame Street, the tree may not even BE there! (The set dressers can move the tree, the...
I don't think he meant the ACTUAL set, as far as reality is concerned.
I think he just wanted a picture of the brownstone, the arbor area, etc.
Yeah, I know Super Grover flying around is fake, but that's the best pic of the neighborhood I could come up with.
How about this pic?
Would this help? It's got the set, the lamppost, and the characters.

This is just a guess, but I don't think back in 1968-1969, when they were creating the show, they originally had Oscar and Big Bird interacting with each other. I think they would have the two characters in their own separate environments interacting with the humans at different times.
In...
I think the reason Carroll Spinney is the only Muppeteer with a credit like that is because Oscar and Big Bird were created to interact with the humans on the street. At least, that's how they were conceived back in the 1969. They were "separate" from the other Muppet segments.
Those...
