That's actually a pretty good price. Because antron fleece is not a common fabric it's fairly expensive (not as bad a high quality fur though!). I assume you've looked in to Georgia Stage. The only cheaper place I've heard about is Hampshire Textiles. They used to sell antron at about $7.70 per...
It's just like the Muley...in my nightmares!
Seriously, that's not a bad mule Foz. Speaking of prototype cartoon character/puppet hybrids, check these out - they belong to Steve Troop of Melonpool fame.
If I refered to a "nice" puppet mouth (apparently I'm too lazy to go back and read my own post!) I meant that the fleece actually curves inside to meet the mouthplate, creating a lip of sorts. The mouthplate and fleece for the head do not meet *exactly* at the edge of the mouthplate.
I don't...
I thought this might be interesting to read if you're a Labyrinth fan....it's another excerpt from Neil Gaiman's blog (the last one about "Mirrormask" can be found here). This was a question Neil was answering for a reader about Labyrinth/Mirrormask:
Question - I read that you and Dave had...
Eowyn and Faramir's romance was definately shot; they sort of just ended up together at the coronation without any explanation so it would be nice to have a little backstory on the relationship.
I believe the Eowyn/Faramir romance angle will be expanded in next fall's Extended Edition DVD, as will Saruman's demise, Sauron's fear of Aragorn and the reason Arwen was dying.
I'm not sure what Jinx thinks about this, but while some of the skills are extremely transferable you don't "have" to know magic to be good at puppetry, or vice versa. Once you get deeper in to puppetry and more serious about it the techniques and skills are pretty specialized. I'm sure the same...
You should be able to purchase gaffer's tape locally from any place that sells or rents technical equipment for theatre or film & television. Check your local Yellow Pages - most major urban areas have at least one of these types of places. Failing that, contact the technical director of a local...
Well, assuming the folktales are traditional ones you could make a show based on them. You can't use the author's particular intrepretation of the folktales or specific situations and dialogue without permission.
The best thing to do is contact the publisher. Call them and explain you're...
I think it was only screened at a few festivals in the U.S. The film is a couple of years old now. It is available in North America as an import, but you won't find it at a place like Blockbuster. I'd suggest trying any Chinese or Asian video stores in your area or a place that specializes in...
Hi all,
I've been meaning to share this with the board, and was reminded today by an article I read....one of the styles of puppetry I am very intrigued by is Taiwanese glove puppetry and one of the puppeteers/filmmakers I really admire - who is also virtually unknown here in North America -...
I forgot to mention, "The Foam Book" has only very limited information of patterning and covering. There's some in there, but the book is really written for beginners. There is a lot of good info and it's definately an interesting read but there is not a lot of "advanced" information, presumably...
Thanks, I know about the OWS fest. I actually have a bit of bias against a few organizations like OWS and Kids on the Block for a few reasons, mostly personal and artistic. Mostly, I dislike the way as organizations they are basically aping the Muppet style (with lower standards) and not...
I seem to have been designated the resident cynic in this thread! LOL
$200 an hour sounds great, but you have to remember material costs, travel expenses, rehearsal time, etc. Plus all the time you have to spend drumming up business. Sometimes you can make a few thousand dollars one week and...
LOL, be careful. Cinar got sued over Wimzie's Place because Henson claimed that the Wimzie characters looked like Fraggles, which I never could understand...
I'm not sure but there may not be a 2004 fest in your region...maybe there wasn't a guild willing to take it. For a definative answer I'd try contacting Aretta Baumgartner at hensonfan@fuse.net who is - as you probably know - the PofA Regional Director for your area.
I do know that the 2005...
Yeah, this is a problem. I know I've done it. Some artists (writers, musicians, etc.) won't listen/look at/watch other artists work while they are working on something because they are paranoid about subconciously copying it.
