Apple profiled "Mirrormask" Director Dave McKean this week. In the article he briefly talks a bit about his visual approach to the film and how it was done technically (on Macs of course!). He's really an amazing artist and this profile serves as a good introduction to his work if you're...
I believe the `89 Disney deal actually fell apart mostly over money. After Jim died Disney drastically lowered it's offer for the company (which was originally about $300 million if memory serves) on the theory that the original deal had included not just the Muppets but also acquiring Jim...
It's definately been attempted, Henson's ill-fated "Brats of the Lost Nebula" and "Aliens in the Family" come to mind. "Dinosaurs" probably did well in that age group. Taiwan has PiLi Puppet Theatre which is a martial arts action series done with puppets that is popular with 6 - 12 year olds...
From the PofA Board:
Blue Sky Puppet Theatre is a professional touring company that specializes in educational/fine arts performing in elementary schools and performance centers in the Baltimore/Washington DC area with additional regional booking in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New...
Interesting to read in the Financial Post here that Eisner is trying to rally shareholders and avoid losing his job in a March 3 vote. So far Roy Disney, Stanley Gold and several important fund managers are lining up against him. A lot of Wall St. types are also betting apparently that sooner or...
...otherwise known as Shrove Tuesday. I think it's a bigger deal in Britain and the Commonwealth than it is in the US.

I know a lot of people have strong feelings about Disney, but you have to give the deal a chance I think. They're not stupid (with the possible exception of their CEO :p). They didn't just spend $60 milllion dollars so they could ruin something. We may not like everything they'll do with the...
It's a good editorial, though - as coby pointed out - a little pessimistic. There's a few assumptions Annika made that I don't think are necessarily true:
1. Merchandise
I don't think the quality of Merchandise will necessarily suffer under Disney, though it could. Disney is a...
Here in Canada we had the same version as the U.S. (or technically, the US had the Canadian version) but I think there may have been an alternate one produced for Radio-Canada (the French CBC). I've also seen the UK version - the actor playing "Doc" is in lighthouse, right?
Has anyone seen this page? I hadn't, but it may have been posted here before. I did a quick scan of the Muppet Central links page and didn't see it listed.

Looks like Little Shop of Horrors is coming to LA - this appears to be an offshoot of the Broadway Production with the Creature Shop doing the puppets. Not sure if this is an additional production, a tour or if it means that the New York production will be closing.
Here's the article from...
The Jim Henson Legacy seems to be putting together a new web site at http://www.jimhensonlegacy.org
I noticed Muppet Central is included on the links page. The site is still under construction but already has lots of good info. There's a decent bio of Jim, as well as a timeline and list of...
I can't recall if they use a blue or greenscreen (most productions tend to use green now) but it's most likely now recorded in D-Beta, digital version of Betacam SP, which is the standard format for broadcasting.
It'll be interesting to see if they've shot the new season in high-def...
It's a nice editorial and it provides a good perspective on the whole sale, which I know many fans are upset about. Reading it I was reminded of an interview Jim Henson gave sometime in the late 70s/early 80s. In it he was asked how long he thought the Muppets would endure. Jim replied that he...
