This has puzzled me for years...

OK this is a bit of stretch but I think it is (kinda) correct. Most puppet shows like "Sesame Street" are actually shot with the camera tilting upwards to help conceal the puppeteer's heads. There's a decent amount of space between the "dumpster" (or whatever it is) and the windows. Since the...

    Jim Henson Tribute

Nice to see the tribute menu up again this year. It's a sad day. People have been commenting on this in this thread too.

    Lewis Black's HBO Special

I love Lewis Black! His "Back in Black" segments are what first got me hooked on the Daily Show and they're usually the highlight of the week. I hope we get this up here in Canada in soon.

    May 16th: Remembering Jim Henson

Not sure if there's going to be a "Remembering Jim Henson" menu this weekend or not, but I thought it was worth noting that tomorrow (Sunday May 16th) is the 14th anniversary of Jim Henson's passing. A sad day. Every year I put a small tribute up on the index page of my web site to...

    Puppetry Companies

I'm pretty sure that laws about starting companies vary by country, state/province and even city. Here in Ontario (which is similar to most US states) you can do business under your own name (i.e. John Smith) without a license but as soon as you're using a business name (i.e. John Smith Puppet...

    Pepe the shrimp

Wait! I know! I know! Justin Timberlake! :zany: Let's cut him some slack guys. After all, he's gotta be ok - he's Canadian. :D

    Muley For President 2004

If elected, will Muley flog Sadam personally? Is he open to carpet-bombing Denmark? How about Tonga?

Creature Shop and Call of Duty

I think they are definately wrong. Most of the big action movies this summer have had puppeteers working on them in one capacity or another (I was writing about this in my blog today). A lot of puppeteers have also gone in to animation (like Karen Prell and Mike Quinn) and the skills required...

    Where is Frank Oz?

He's got a new movie coming out this summer - The Stepford Wives. You see the trailer here.

    Batman Begins...

Worth noting: Christian Bale played Jim Hawkins in a 1990 TV version made in Australia (I think). He was not Jim Hawkins in Muppet Treasure Island. He was pretty busy as a child actor - wasn't he in Newsies and Swing Kids? As for Batman-On-Film it's actually proudly spoiler-free. They...

    Puppetry Companies

But see if it's a joke `ya gotta put in a :p a  or throw a muffin, a penguin, anything. Then everybody knows that you're joking. Sheesh, newbies. :p see how that works? ;)

    How to Build a Puppet

Yeah, I think it's just some people don't place a priority on their email which isn't wrong, just a choice. I have people in my family who don't concern themselves with responding to email in a timely fashion.

    Angel's Last Episode

Actually now word from Joss Whedon is that there are no plans to do TV movies. Those rumours started because of comments a WB executive made when the cancellation was announced. Many of the cast and Joss insist there have been no discussions about a TV movie. Now with the way it looks like...

    Angel's Last Episode

Anyone else sad to see Angel go? I just read the spoilers for the last episode (me bad) and wow, they're really taking the show out with a bang. Lots of characters from the series mythology return, people die and we finally get to see the Senior Partners...sort of.

Why is Bert not on Sesame Street much anymore?

But (despite being around for 35 years) have they ever really done a lot of Ernie/Bert street stories? They've mostly always been confined to short skits except for movies and specials. I think this was originally because Jim Henson and Frank Oz were rarely available to tape street segments.

    How to Build a Puppet

I would just give Keeermit some time to respond. A lot of people do not check their email everyday and even some who do sometimes take a while to get back to folks. I'm guilty of that a lot because I get busy. :o I'm sure he'll respond in due course.

    Puppet Patterns

I was just talking to one of the folks I was thinking of and she's moved to Quebec City (d'oh!). Email me privately (you don't have that option turned on so I can't email you) and I can probably put you in touch with some people. I'd rather not post people's contact info without their consent.

    Where are you Frogboy?

Yeah, he was puppeteer who decided to go traveling the world.
