I found another digital Muppet project, from the same university - this one is a virtual reality version of the Muppet Show. Check it out - http://puppetvision.blogspot.com/2005/11/more-digital-muppets.html
Just posted this on my blog and thought a lot of you might dig it, a digitally puppeteered re-creation of "Mahna Mahna". It's crude, but neat.

Yeah, but as animatronics go $300-400 is actually a pretty good price. Just parts alone you're probably looking at a minimum $200-300 for the components that go in to a kit like that with the servos, control board, R/C controller, eyes and parts. And then there's the labour and a profit margin...
I saw this today while doing some research and wanted to share...it's an off-the-shelf animatronic eye kit. It can provide up, down, right, left eye movement as well as blinks. Could easily be tied in to a standard 3 channel radio controller and used in a puppet...
This is pretty neat so far, we've got a long way to go but so far there are over 70 people on the map from around the world.

If you've got a blog or website and you want to help spread the word you can link...
I am attempting to build a map of puppeteers and puppet builders around the world using Frapper so if you're a puppeteer or builder (and if you're reading this you probably are) please click here and take a moment to add your name, location and three lines indicating:

Sean Johnson has the last part of his arm rod tutorial online - http://swazzle.com/blogs/2005/11/arm-rods-part-four.html
Be sure to check all of the links to his blog I've posted in this thread in case you have been asking questions about arm rods. I highly recommend reading Sean's blog...
There's a similar yellow one too. I found it in a small town discount store, it looked several years old. Does anyone know if there were others in the series?
Yup, it's down right now because I was hosting images on it for my blog and the blog's traffic skyrocketed over the last month and I exceeded my bandwidth. It'll be back online the 1st of December or thereabouts.
