I don't remember that scene. I have it on original video or DVD about 5 times, all different releases. I still find some of the edits confusing. Why edit Fozzie and his mother hanging stockings?
The only thing that Disney really have is a long back catalogue of Muppet programs, specials and movies. Changing the Muppet back story that Jim, Frank or Jerry Juhl created would be criminal and I don't think Disney or the new Muppet writers would be confident or foolhardy enough to do that...
Disney really aren't making the effort, are they? Why buy the rights to characters that they have no way of reproducing themselves?
As far as popular characters, in the UK Kermit, Piggy and Animal adorn mugs, t-shirts and posters more than any of the other characters. Fozzie and Gonzo get...
I can see what you mean. To me, tho, having them married with children would take them even further away from the Muppets I grew up with and loved as a child. Disney have already made a good job of changing and cheapening them so far and I think that any more changes from how they were "back in...
I have the UK release from a few years back which seems unedited (I think). I wonder why copyright for the same piece of material differs from country to country. The even edited Fozzie's comedy routine from the US version. Did that have copyright problems too?
Piggy didn't come about until 1975, so it's only been just 0ver 30 years technically. I don't think, when the love story was introduced in the first place that anybody really expected that the characters, not alone the interest in their relationship, would last as long as they have.
The people...
Filmation did He-Man and She-Ra if I'm not mistaken. Both of those shows had big viewing figures so not everything they have produced has been bad. Whoever owns the rights to the Tom & Jerry cartoons must have given Filmation permission to do these new cartoons so surely the blame should be...
I don't think the Jim Henson Company, Disney or anyone else that might have some control over the Muppets are scared about announcing Kermit and Piggy as an item. I just think that if they finally said "Okay, they are married and have four bouncing baby figs" it would kinda be the end of the...
Any clothing for Kermit would have to have velcro or something to hold it together. It would be near impossible to bend his arms or legs enough to push them into sleeves or trouser legs. For the real puppets, clothes would normally be stitched around them I would have thought.
To be honest, I don't think we were ever supposed to know the real deal between Piggy and Kermit. It was always a "will they, won't they" kinda situation that happens in all the best TV shows to keep the viewer hooked. After all, they are only puppets and they have no life outside of what is...
Perhaps Frank has distanced himself away from the Muppets more than Sesame Street? Could it have something to do with Disney? Henson and Disney had a brief merger at the end of the 80's/beginning of the 90's. Is that when Frank decided to move away a bit?
I don't claim to know ANYTHING at all about puppet building and I thought the final design of the Kermit replica was amazing, but there isn't something quite right about Animal. His head and features don't seem to be very much in proportion. Maybe it will again be a case of manipulating him once...
Is the nose they are still having problems with? I guess, as it IS Gonzo's main feature, it needs to be right. Having said that, he has changed so much over the years, so which "version" are they basing the design on? I think the late 70's/early 80's version looked best. He seems to be a little...
