Well sometimes the reason is they themselves feel uncomfortable liking kid's stuff; they know they'd get made fun of. So then they're resentful when other people enjoy their interests with no fear. Or sometimes you just resent something you don't understand. At least that's been my experience. :)

It doesn't sound pitiful, most people are lucky to have one in their life! :) High School really is a limited enviornment, it's doesn't represent real life or the rest of your future. Not trying to minimize your problem, just saying don't panic, hehe.
