Black-ish does sound like a promising sitcom, as I enjoyed Bernie Mac's show from years back. Heck, its creator is even one of the showrunners.

I love watching YT vids of people playing vintage analog synths. This guy shows the great musical potential of the Minimoog, though he does pull off plenty of those creepy production logo sounds that you mentioned.

And even that sort of thing was done better with Morel Orel, with a lot more religious satire thrown in along with it.

I saw one annotated episode of P&S, and you're right about it. It could have been made with a generic family and it wouldn't make a difference. Plus, there's that stock gang of kids trope that was endemic in the '80s. It also suffered poor DVD sales, which is no surprise there.
