The Boxtrolls is at the #2 slot today at over $17 million, dethroning The Maze Runner but still trailing far behind the Denzel Washington flick The Equalizer. Hopefully it would at least make back its budget someday, which I figure is around the $60 mil. mark going by the last 2 Laika films...
Hub Network is going to get a rebranding soon as the Discovery Family Channel as Hasbro lowers the stake in its partnership with Discovery Communications. However, the ponies will be safe, and Hasbro will still produce content for it in the form of a daily late morning-early afternoon...
And to add an extra layer of Fridge Brilliance: seems like the main reason Noodman had that cat around was to spite his father, who has a crippling fear of cats as revealed in an earlier episode.
Now that was an epic finale reminiscent of the 1st live-action movie and the 4Kids episode where they are forced to live at April's old farmhouse. Loved the Gilbert Gottfried-voiced Kraang Sub-Prime, who is implied to be the Krang from the Fred Wolf series.
Overall, the 2nd season was an...
Here's a clip of the show that aired after Robert F. Kennedy's assassination in 1968, in which Daniel Striped Tiger asks Lady Aberlin what the word means (and her hesitant, but not beating around the bush, explanation afterward), and later Rogers gives a serious discussion with parents about how...
I'm sure Giffany and Melody would get a lot of Rule 34 fan art in the future! The former is a loli schoolgirl (no surprise there :concern:), while the latter's hips and thighs are fetish fuel incarnate! :D
I have a feeling we'll see more Crystal Gems along the way once the 2nd season arrives. I also hope to see Pearl and Garnet's fusion transformation, too, which I imagine would be the most stable and effective seeing how it combines Garnet's brute strength with Pearl's agility and focus.
The Cosby Show was a different case. Just like Coz's style of comedy, it focused on social issues that even white people can relate to while not absolutely pandering to them, though it did go into racial stuff on occasion. It's spinoff, A Different World, was more about the racial issues...
Black-ish was a pretty good show so far. I like how the main character grew up in the hood and pulled himself up by the bootstraps to become a big success, yet still worried about being seen as an "Oreo" (black outside, white inside), which I'm sure a lot of other African-Americans who are...
I love watching YT vids of people playing vintage analog synths. This guy shows the great musical potential of the Minimoog, though he does pull off plenty of those creepy production logo sounds that you mentioned.
I really do miss the days of clever adult animation that didn't amount to a bunch of cheap sex and drug jokes like Dilbert, Dr. Katz, and The Critic, though I think we've seen a bit of a turnaround with shows like Archer, Rick & Morty, and Bob's Burgers that put a strong emphasis on plot and...
I have a feeling that Color City movie is going to stay DTV, as it should. There's no point thrusting this crap into theaters, as the CGI boom has died down recently.
The newest episode was really sweet. Also really freaky seeing Amethyst mutate horrifically after getting her gem cracked. Imagine the same happening to Steven!
I saw one annotated episode of P&S, and you're right about it. It could have been made with a generic family and it wouldn't make a difference. Plus, there's that stock gang of kids trope that was endemic in the '80s. It also suffered poor DVD sales, which is no surprise there.
