I know there have been mixed feelings about Muppets From Space (my main gripe being that they never actually went to space) but I had an idea rattling around in my head for a Muppet film (after the Segel one, of course). It both incorporates the sci-fi genre while drawing from the Muppets'...
I wouldn't see what Blu-ray would add to the Muppet Show experience unless they added the trivia track back in and incorporated scene selections. It doesn't appear to be a priority with Disney. TMS picture quality would be the same. However, I don't see why Disney hasn't released any of the...
These are being sold from Ken at Palisades' Ebay store. Some of his auctions start off a bit pricy but his stuff eventually does sell. Not to me, unfortunately. I haven't got the cash to spare. ;)
Corgi's polystone Mayhem set was to be the same sort of material as the beautiful Sideshow busts...
Here's kind of how I'd break down the Muppet/Muppety Christmas specials and films of years past to present. (Note I left out Sesame etc due to that being an almost separate issue for me.)
1. John Denver & the Muppets: A Christmas Together
My memories of this special and the music contained...
That's the only time I felt the pig was truly vulnerable. No wonder she prefers sweet and happy singing frogs to jewel thieves sporting flowered socks. ;)
 Moulin Scrooge Menu :)
A red curtain, with golden letters reading Muppet Central, rises to reveal a gold-trimmed theater stage with red curtains framing either side. Santa is on his sleigh in the center of the composition and is quickly eclipsed by the words Happy Holidays in gold...
I know. It's strange because that's actually how the show was intended - for poor children left unattended because their parents were working. Now SS is focus tested to suit a more suburban appeal. Much of the fun and relatable elements are now gone.
I agree with the Muppets' message of...
Yeah...that was what I was saying. That they *didn't* step over that line into the ick factor. It could have headed there but stopped just short of a disturbing portrayal. If you go back and read the body of my post you'll see I was holding that up as a model of what *to do* rather than what not...
Those MR/Corgi ones were unimpressive except for Janice and maybe Zoot. These rough Palisades ones are so much better than the cartoon look of the canceled Corgis. Ugh. There Animal was just terrible. Corgi's pricy, kitschy-looking statues just didn't suit my taste. I was expecting something...
It's creepy, but the good kind of creepy. I will admit the whole GMC Charles Grodin-Miss Piggy thing nearly went up to the ick factor before strategically stepping away from that edge. To me it is the example of just how far that dynamic can go without getting slapped with a "suggestive content"...
Hi Mr. Jim!
What do you think (if anything) do you feel is missing from Muppet projects that you would like to add? I guess it could be anything from character dynamics to plot lines. If you were given carte blanche - what would you do?
Thanks for your time. ;)
I always felt the Muppets lived in something in between the two - some sort of apartment building just for Muppets adjacent to the theater. I see the MFS house, LTS apartment building and GMC Happiness Hotel rolled into one structure located in New York. Maybe just some sort of Muppet hostel for...
That woman is comedian Kathy Griffin. I always liked that bit. She wasn't well-known back then except for her supporting role on Suddenly Susan (headlined by MTM cameo actress Brooke Shields) but now Griffin has that campy, yet funny D-List show. She's admittedly had some work done so she looks...
Hey...cooler heads, man. It's Christmas. Please.
The gay stereotype character in VMX was Howard the pig. I wasn't offended, but it's an obvious Mel Brooks style movie send-up. The character appeared to be an early model of the one later featured in the Tinseltown pilot. This is a well-known...
:wisdom: Caroll Spinney Celebration Menu :grouchy:
In this menu the site's red arches drop in as usual. A banner that reads "Celebrating Caroll Spinney" appears above the usual Muppet Central logo. Twinkling glitter sparkles briefly while Caroll's characters pop up into the arches along with...
I agree about the mom and daughter. There was supposed to be some human interest to this special and that was it. There really should have been a few more on-screen moments of children getting their wishes granted on Christmas day in some sort of brief montage. I also would have liked Robin to...
But it's missing episodes, right? My feeling has always been first and foremost having the complete library of the episodes on DVD. An uber-Henson fan such as myself would pull a bank job if that's what it took to afford the complete series. I know...not very Fraggley. :coy: It's just...
Both Jim and Richard kept their own lives private for different reasons and I feel we should respect that unless their families wish to share moments with us. ;)
Nail on the head right there!
As much as I enjoyed Piggy sitting most of the special out this time around, it would have been great to see the Muppets engages in more chaotic moments juxtaposed to her on vacation doing simple boring things like ordering room service and feeling put-upon by...
